Desperate with all versions
hi all.
I think i tried many combinations of virtualdub + divx 5.x + gordian + avysinth, but always i got virtualdub errors (any months ago i used it to encode with no problem).
I tried win ME, win98 SE and finally win XP but no luck.
I checked my hardware resources with programs (Goldmem for DDR, Seagate utility for HD... but still no luck).
What else can i do? (im getting crazy )
when im enconding with virtualdub (always 2 pass mode), in the 1 pass encode i got many kinds of msg (always is not the same msg). The list of msgs im getting are next:
1.- PC hangs (this error occurs about 80% of times i used virtualdub)
2.- Assembler screen from virtualdub in a mov order.
3.- Avysinth error read.... ( enconding with same avysinth version this msg appear only few times).
4.- Access violation of divx....
5.- quot;Out of boundsquot; access memory error
6.- The last error (yesterday i got it), encoding frame 1780 (this is not significative) enconding time continues, time estimated grows (many many hours...) but enconding frame holds in same point (in this case 1780, fps=0). After 16 encoding minutes pc crash (hang)...
im using:
Athlon xp 1700
MB: Asus A7A266-E (bios updated may-2003)
Memory: 512 mb DDR (recently i changed it to test if it was a memory problem)
HD: seagate 60 Gb
Windows XP Prof.
winfast Gforce4 MX 440 (driver updated may-2003)
Onboard audio.any ideas or advices? im really getting crazy (even i cannot convert audio AC3-gt;MP3 with bsweet (Azid error encoding to wav).
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately this sounds very much like a hardware error. You said you checked your memory, perhaps your hd with the sawp file on it is failing? The only other thing I can recommend is a fresh windoze install.
i also did windows new instalation (hd with no data) but no luck.
what do you mean with :
quot; perhaps your hd with the sawp file on it is failingquot;
(sorry , my english language is very poor)
Well, if your harddisk where your windows swap file is located gives a lot of read errors this might have the same effect than broken memory.
yesterday night, i did a test: i did open my pc, and all works fine.
I think my main problem is hardware refrigeration
1) Your CPU might be messed up or it's overheating.
What temps are you getting ?
2) Your Memory might be defective
Did you try Simmtester's memory check ? (page/produ...c/download.asp)
or
Did you try doing SiSandra Soft memory loop to see if it freezes while its doing that
3) Might be your harddrive
Run ScanDisk and make it do a SURFACE Scan
or
Format your drive and at the it would not allow you to write on parts of the drive that at messed up
and
go Startgt;rungt;cmd and type chkdsk and let it run
every day, i understand less than the last day...
1.- actually im reaching a Temperature of 72ºC (maximum im getting)
2.- No, but i tried Goldmem and it says no problem. Recently i changed my memory, and i buyed a 512 mb DDR memory ( i quit the other 256 mb DDR module). I will try the program you say, and ill try sisandra soft.
3.- I checked the HD surface but apparently there is no problem (but i think my problem is now HD, i dont know why but this is what i think...). Yesterday i format my hd, and i installed all again, but i got the same problems...
Do you overclock your cpu? I remember getting those same sort of errors when I overlocked my system. VirtualDub was the first program to crash that showed me I overclocked too far (even before benchmark progams told me I was too high).
1.- actually im reaching a Temperature of 72ºC (maximum im getting)
That is way way too high a temp for your cpu. IIRC cpu's won't die until they reach 80+ Celcius, but 72 is definately too close to that 80-mark. A normal cpu temp during encoding should lie between 40C-50C, and between 30C-40C when doing normal tasks, depending on how efficient your cooling is.
Such a high temperature could very well be the source of your problems.
my pc is not overclocking.
Its very very strange: if i put my hd 60 gb like slave (this one give me problems enconding), attached to other hd 8 gb (this one set to master), usually i can do the proccess with no problem (even reaching this high Temp), but i put it like master it gives me lot of problem (even transforming ac3 to mp3 with bsweet, in azid.exe, windows crash).
When i start my pc, temp is about 53 ºC, and when i encode a movie, when virtualdub runs, it can rises at 72 ºC; if i stop of enconde, temp downs to 62ºC in only 2 minutes ... maybe my problem is temperature (im using amd XP 1700, MB Asus a7a266-e).
You definately have a temperature problem. Even after hours of full cpu load it shouldn't go beyond 60°C. Check the interior of your pc, see if the air can flow unhindered, e.g. its bad if lots of cables are in the way. Add some case fans. I have 2 next to my cpu blowing out, 3 before by hds and at the bottom front blowing in. (one in and one out could be enough to get a working air flow).
yeah, you was right !!!
last friday i buyed a Volcano 11 cooler but...my luck not changed cause i cannot assemble it over my mobo (asus a7a266-e), but i put the artic silver product, and my temp go down about 4-8 ºC. Now i can encode with no problems with virtualdub (also the besweet problems with azid go out...
definitively, it was a temperature problem.
Thanks a lot to all for your help!!! |
