Pop-up nightmare

Hi,
I want to suggest a very simple thing for this site: rather than opening a different window
for every external link followed (even to access the forum), why not  leaving them in
the same window?

Having a pop-up even to enter the forum is really annoying, and if I want
to have it on a different window I can do it 'by hand' with shift-click.

Thanks,      Nico

if you'll use phoenix (0.5 build projects/phoenix/, or regarded as stable 18-mar-2003 build pub/phoen...enix-win32.zip) or mozilla (from--you'd be able to open links in new tabs, instead of letting them open in a new window.

Well. let's imagine (actually it happens all the time) that you have a news item with some external links. The first external link is right at the beginning of the news. Doing it like you suggested would mean leaving my site and you later have to come back again (some sites are really picky about the back button and wouldn't allow you to come back). So, if you want to continue reading my news you may even have to type the ucl again which is a major pain in the ass. I'd like people to stay on my site until they have finished reading the news rather than to send them away at every possible opportunity. And of course, opening other sites in a framed environment is a major nono so that's why all external links open in a new window. And in 3 years you're the first to complain, so.. I'm not very likely to change anything. Most sites I go to open external links in new windows.
