Sounds like XCD might be trumped in the near future...
This page of an article talks about some new technology from plextor.
very exciting...
I need that burner
this technology seems to change the PHYSICAL structure of the burn pits.
it only means that using xcd on top of that you'll get about 1.15G out of the 'compressed' 1G
Sounds kind of like a knock off of Sanyo's HD-BURN, although that can fit 1.4Gig on an 80min CDR.
i think there are lots of different between HD burn and the plextor technology.....
HD burn will require a DVD player with new firmware update. I E the current DVD Laser head can read HD burn disk but the current CD laser haed cant.
What plextor has done is simliar to HD burn, but the disk burned could still be read with current CD ROM. I.e with the current CD Laser head.
damn...thats tyte as fuq! If anyone gets this drive, PLZ let us know how it works out. If this drive aint too expensive, i might get one just cuz of this feature.
Fitting 1.14g on a 80min disc is fine and dandy, but try getting your drive to read it afterwards is another story... much less any other third party drive/player.
I can't tell you how many times my discs skip just using the latest NERO overburn writing. Piece of crap and waste of money (or time). |
