Any AC3 I make with BeLight cannot work in a DVD, why?

I have made a wav with Goldwave 5.12, 48k PCM signed 16 bit stereo, to be audio to go along with an mpeg into a DVD. If I convert this wav to AC3 with BeLight + BeSweet, then I compile it with DVD Lab Pro, the audio is silent in every DVD player! It is still silent in the Cyberlink computer player also. But if I open that Vob in any mpeg player the audio is fine! Now if I compile the wav + the mpeg it works fine in the DVD players, but only when I convert that wav to AC3 I get these heppenings. I have tried many different settings in BeLight but any AC3 I make with BeLight is the same way. What am I doing wrong? But if I use a demuxed AC3 from a 'real' DVD and compile with that it's fine, just the AC3 I make myself is the ones that can not work properly.

What is your audio bitrate? (e.g 384Kbps; 448Kbps)

Fellini, When I made the AC3 I used several different rates, 192 to 256 and these all worked, failed to work!, the same.

If you'll upload a short vob file, I'll may help you.
10 second file will do just fine.

/ekeee   It is a complete DVD with a menu and like the first, it was a 48k wav 16 bit converted to AC3 with BeLight and the audio is silence in a DVD player but the Vob has the audio when played in an mpeg player.

Yes, I can see what you're talking about. I think the problem comes from the multiplexing.
Which software do you use?
Can you send me the AC3 before it's being multiplexed to VOB?

/h3s9j - I use DVD Lab Pro to compile. I have done a hundred dvds with never this type of problems, only now with the AC3 made by BeLight can I not hear the audio in a DVD player.

I've checked you wav and ac3.
First of all, the wav is so quiet, I could hardly hear anything (max level was -25dB and the average was -41dB).
I've amplified it to +24dB and now the peak level is -2dB and the averge is -21dB.
I don't think this is the cause to your problem, but this is how it should be.

I suggest the following:
1. First, take the amplified wav audio I've attach in the link, and try to make the usual process you do (coonvert to AC3, MUX to VOB and checking in DVD-Player).
2. If that still doesn't work, take my AC3 file and MUX it to VOB, and see if works.

I know people like to encode with BeSweet but I have bad experience with it (and apparently so do you).
I'd suggest you'll use Soft Encode 1.0 - Dolby Digital 5.1.
It's a great software and quite simple to operate.
I'll IM you for further instructions.

Thank you for that advise setarip_old, I tried it with ac3gui and it does nothing, when I click the process button it just flickers but nothing at all else happens! And I do have the ac3fix and ac3gui in the same folder, it just does nothing as if it does not recognize the source AC3 file! but thanks for trying.

If I remember correctly, you also have to place the .AC3 file in that same folder

Well yes, it has browse ability but it's true, ac3 must be in the same folder! So I did and it worked, by making a new ac3 file, but that one too is still silence like the first. I am doing something fundamental wrong when making the wav into the AC3 I think. Thank you again for trying.

I wonder if, when creating the DVD in DVDLabPro, you haven't somehow placed the audio in other than the first audio location (e.g. 0x81 instead of 0x80)?

When you try to play the burned DVD on a standalone DVD player, try using the remote to select the next audiostream (and, if necessary, the next one after that)...

setarip_old thanks but this is not the case, I have made it ten times many different ways, for example with a 'real' ac3 alongside 'my' ac3 and when I use the audio select I can hear the real one but not mine. Also DVD Lab Pro can not allow me to put an audio in a second slot in an accident, it will automatically put it in the first slot. But I can not hear mine no matter what slot I use or if it is the only audio.

Well I've run out of ideas. Hopefully, you'll get to the root of this dilemma.

OK I will tell when I have success. I am also discouraged, I can not understand why any AC3 I make with BeLight will not work, it is such a popular software it must be working for other people, but still I am looking for a new AC3 maker. Thanks setarip_old and fellini.

I had this exact same issue before I upgraded my version of BeSweet. Just to find the cause of the original problem, can you check what version you have Slotnick?
