-------------
Here we go - as promised: first alpha of new version.

Go and get it at projects/gordianknot/

Change log:
- Cropping is done with multiply of 2 for all modes (manual, auto, smart) so that it is YV12 compatible. Manual cropping via editboxes is therefor disabled (use arrows).

- AVS window is rearranged slightly to include more filter options

- Added Lanczos to resize filters (and it is default filter for all cases apart from credits where bilinear is default)

- added Bob, FieldDeinterlace(blend=false) to deintrelace filters.

- TemporalSmoother changed to TemporalSoftener (noise filters). Settings recommended by sh0dan.

- Full support DivX 5.03/4 (including Nth pass) (Codec settings for first, Nth and credits is fully configurable now). Encode button is enabled now only after all three (or at least two) settings are set
- Compressibility test for divx5 uses /log option from VDubMod (and therefor vdubmod is required, but that is not checked in application itself yet). Also codec settings are configurable just for the test.

- Correct Settings for VDub path is picked up properly. (VDubMod is used for muxing audio as well from now on)

- Save and Saveamp;Encode buttons in both SaveAVS and Edit windows
proposed names for Frameserver script and for Credits Framserver script (Movie.avs and Movie_Credits.avs).

-  Tittles for the Edit script window, adapted to the frameserver that it is edited (titles: Avisynth Frameserver, Avisynth Credits Frameserver and Avisynth comp.test Frameserver). Update instructions:

1) Install AVISynth 2.5
2) Install VDubMod 1.4.13.2v2 or higher!!!
3) Unpack zip into previous installation dir
4) make sure that option quot;use alternative mpeg2dec.dllquot; is set to mpeg2dec3.dll (main form - settings tab)
5) Make sure path to Virtual Dub is set to VirtualDubMod(this option is on the Encoder from, settings tab)

I suppose it should work even with old AVS 2.0x, but then you don't have to unpack filters (which I included in zip file - they are avs 2.5 compatible only)

Enjoy.

Update:
I've uploaded sources into module called quot;gknotquot;. Contact me if you want to be developer at SF.Looks nice. Another program added to my 'to test' list...

i try the gknot 0.28 alpha 3
i done allmost everything you say:
quot;1) Install AVISynth 2.5
2) Unpack zip into previous installation dir
3) make sure that option quot;use alternative mpeg2dec.dllquot; is set to mpeg2dec3.dll
4) Make sure path to Virtual Dub is set to VirtualDubMod included in zip file quot;
My problem is with 4  i cant find where to change this path

thanks
harel

perhaps it would be great if virtualdub can be changed into virtualdubmod and divx4 into divx5!

Hi Guys,

I’ve been doing some testing on Gknot 0.28 alpha 3.

First off, just to be picky it says its Gknot 0.28 alpha 2 on the programs title bar even though it’s in a zip that’s called alpha 3.

While this is purely a preview problem with MS Media Player v6.4.09.1109  (I haven’t tested any of the new versions of MPlayer to see if the same error occurs, as currently I’m only running v6.4 on my PC).  I’m going to included this even though it’s not necessarily a bug, so you guys can make of it what you like.  I tried to preview both an NTSC and PAL rip with AVIsynth 2.50 amp; 2.51 and mpeg2dec3.dll, but I only got a crap picture when it previewed in MPlayer v6.4.  Basically the video source was split into three sections, two at the top and one at the bottom.  The two at the top were of the movie, but it was displayed in only three colours black, green and purple.  While the third section, which is the bottom half of the frame, is like a scrambled cable channel.  This seems to be a MPlayer v6.4 problem, as the AVS file works correctly both in VirtualDub 1.4.13 (build 14328) and VirtualDubMod.

Note: I have also tested these MPlayer v6.4 with AVIsynth 2.07 and the default mpeg2dec.dll and it previews perfectly.

I then tried to use the Separate Fields (fast) Field Operations.  I had the H-modul set to 4, and the Width x Height as 560x296 in the Output Resolution frame.  Then when I previewed it with AVIsynth 2.51 / mpeg2dec3.dll, it told me YV12 height must be multiple of 4, so did VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod.  It was using the Width x Height from the Crop (before resize!) frame where it was 702x338.  It looks like these two Width x Height values both need to be checked with the H-Modul value, or maybe some type of warning message if it’s not a proper multiple of 4.

Ok, I've heard that before - can anybody else comment on whether we always need mod 4 sizes for deinterlacing ?
(I'm pretty sure that without deinterlacing evrything works fine for just mod 2...)

will do...

@len0x

I want to help with the project(in specific the translate part)

In the spanish(I'm spanish-guy) forum there are some interesting ideas about future additions like:

1. XviD support
2. in the Audio A,B mask also the Ogg format
3. Include the XviD stats from Koepi (if Koepi don't see a problem, of course)
4. I make a visual quot;changequot; to let GK use XP theming lt;-- include this also.
5. place your comment here

If you need more info mail me at: KyoForever @ Gmx dot Net

PD: Neuron2 has pointed that for deinterlacing/ivct'ing the mod must be 4 because .an avisynth internal bug lt;-- not true, the yv12 natural form  (thanks hakko)

If you are using YV12 (A2.5x) you do need mod-4 for interlaced video. Read this and this.

[edit]
@KYO

It's not a bug, it's just the way YV12 data is stored that sets the limitation.

bond thanks for the answer

i just finish burning quot;THE GAMEquot;
i done it with the new Gknot
i use 3 pass.
do you know if there is realy a different between 2 or 3 passes

i want to know why evrey pass it stops to worn me that: quot;a log file already exist do you want to overwritequot;
how can i overcome this problem so i can leave my pc to do the job without tuching it.

I have big problem after instal whole things guided by ypur instructions virtualdunmod hasn't started and i have that message:

I'll do that automatically soon, but for the moment - all you have to do is make sure to tick quot;don't promp for errorsquot; box on the first codec properties page
(actally it's more 5.0.3 problem - 5.0.4 have this enabled by default)

I think you should get proper installation of VDubMod (1.4.13.2v2) some ppl have problems with the one I packed.

I will remove it soon from zip file anyway...

@len0x

I suppose that you have packed also the lastest quot;vdubmod needed dllsquot;, because the old ones don't work...

Do you have correct path for VdubMod set ?
(can you see actually application starting when you press comp test ?

p.s. click codec settings before you do comp test and see if anything fishy going on there (usually it's not compulsory to do that, but may be bug is there)

p.p.s to be on the safe side try alpha 4 which I released half an hour ago

me again:
i use alpha 4
appliacation starts but ends immediately and i have tha same mesage as posted above.
codec properties look OK to me:
quot;-b1q 2.0 -psy 1 -key 250 -mv quot;E:\ET\VIDEO_TS\E.T._5_perc_D5_LanczosResize_704x368quot;

any ideas?
