robot4rip 0.4 released.

to be able to use the quot;Full Copyquot; feature you have to upgrade
DVDDecrypter to version 3.1.5.0. !!!

ChapterXtractor and AuthDVD.dll come with this installer.

DaemonTools and WinRAR are not included.

recommended INSTALLATION:

1) install latest GordianKnot SystemPack.
2) install latest GordianKnot RipPack.
3) upgrade DVDDecrypter to v3.1.5.0.
4) install robot4rip into your GordianKnot program folder.
5) download DaemonTools from and install.
6) (optional) download WinRAR from and install.
7) run robot4rip.
8) in quot;Toolsquot; -gt; quotreferencesquot; check all program locations and settings.

what is this program good for?
it automates and combines all the boring steps in the dvd ripping process
to be prepared for video encoding after one single click.

has the official online guide for you already:
r4r-guide.htm
if this link is dead just check out the guides section and you'll find it.

all steps are optional, but you have to keep in mind that some depend
on others...

1) create a DVD ISO Image with DVDDecrypter and mount it with DaemonTools.
2) rip a selected program chain (various methods)
3) create a d2v-file with dvd2avi, automatically activate quot;force filmquot; if possible.
4) transcode audio with BeSweet or any other cli audio transcoder.
5) extract subtitles with VobSub.
6) extract Chapter Information with ChapterXtractor.
7) run a custom command.i think the gui is pretty well organized and should be self-explanatory.
quot;Scanquot; -gt; quot;Scan Folderquot; to search for ifo- and vob-files in a certain folder.
r4r will only find vob-files if there is an ifo with a matching name:
e.g. MyMovie_0.ifo MyMovie_1.vob MyMovie_2.vob and so on.
left-click the speed-buttons to activate/deactivate an action.
right-click the speed-buttons to change settings.
for each audio track you can select a different audio encoder setting -
just check and right-click the track.
press quot;Startquot; to make it happen.
all the rips you queue will be done from the ISO-image/Full Copy until you
quot;scanquot; a different folder.HISTORY:

v0.1 alpha, March 26th, 2003: this is the first alpha release. not available to the public.

v0.2 beta, April 1st, 2003:  did a lot of testing, manono helped out as well. they found quite a
few bugs that should be gone with this first public release.
please post bug reports in from--forum..org
in the gordian knot forum, but please keep it in ONE THREAD.

v0.3 release, April 11th, 2003:
- BaronVlad requested support for other audio types than ac3. use
quot;Editquot; -gt; quot;Enable All Audio Tracksquot;. this is a feature for experienced
users only!!! dvd2avi can only demux certain audio types and you
have to setup custom profiles for audio encoding. use at your own risk!
- len0x found a bug in the calculations of d2v film percentage. should
be fixed. you can test calculations with quot;Toolsquot; -gt; quot;Analyze d2vquot;.
- ExSport reported a bug with rundll32 amp; winME - should be fixed.
- some cosmetics.

v.0.4 release, April 14th, 2003:
- killingspree found a stupid bug in r4rs vstrip ripping section. the first
vob file was not picked up and renamed, therefore roughly the first 30
minutes of a movie were missing in the d2v file. it's strange that nobody
noticed before, probably because vstrip, per default, is used for ripping
from harddisk only - fixed.
- latest DVDDecrypter version 3.1.5.0 comes with new commandline switches.
so i added support for quot;Full Copyquot; in file mode, that can be used instead
of ISO mode, on machines where deamontools is not available.
- Benjy sent me a french translation for the gui, so i included it with
the installer - thank you!

give it a try!

bug reports in this thread only, please!

happy ripping!

any chance to let users specify the audio encoding bitrate? The choices are rather limited.

I wouldn't have asked if Ogg Vorbis .5 setting is there already.

I'll test it tonight.

Thanks

jayel

you can create your own profiles as stated in the guide  Just take an existing vorbis profile, change the quality factor in the commandline and save it under a new name and you're all set.

very nice
thank you.

Jayel

I've tested it, it look very nice!

The interface looks WAAAAY better than GKnot.
Still misses muxing and video encoding though, but it's a very nice work already.

@TheWEF

Will someone beside you support this development?Best regards,
Bilu

GKNOT and r4r are the best soft for dvd2DivX(XviD) conversion, but there is a function that is useful and not implemented(or there is not a profile). And it is a transcoding ac3 to ac3 with lower bitrate(AUTODUB has this function).I am not so informed in besweet command prompt- for many people will be problem to create own profile for TRANSCODE, so PLEASE, could someone informed create it for us?
Thanks for all:-))

wheres the big go button?

shame on me! - you're not in my quot;hello and thanxquot; list - damn it!   i'd say this is a serious bug that definitely will be fixed in the next version!

glad to see you around!

hah! we should catch up some time... its been a long time since ive been around (years? )

nice toll theWEF
i'm just starting to do my first rip with it (have to free up some HD space)...
one question (probably feature request :-P):
would it be very difficult to include subrip (or alike) in there... i'm usually ripping my files to a testfile so ican use them with BSplayer and it would be great if this was included in the process...

regards amp; thanks again
steVe

PS: the GUI just looks awesome!

I know this was coming. But anything OCR related is very difficult to automate. I know, every srt freak has all his perpared profiles for half a dozen types of DVDs, but I'm sure I'll find you a couple in my collection that still require considerable manual interaction and that goes against the quot;automate everythingquot; paradigm. And vobsub subs really don't take much space sine you can rar compress them. Doesn't bsplayer support dvobsub?

well i had some doubts about this idea myself but asked anyway... i know it wouldn't be possible to fully automate the process but i didn't think about exchanging vobsub with subrip but rather add subrip as a nice extra for those quot;freaksquot; -as you call them (:
well actually i do not know if bsplayer supports dvobsub... i just find it convenient to have a textfile which you do not have to take in account when calculating the bitrate. (a few kb don't matter in my eyes)

anyway... it's amazing how fast r4r is doing the whole process... just for testing i let it rip the final fantasy r2 DVD (just main movie, 2 audio languages) and let it do the dvd2avi project, all done in roughly 15 minutes- fast in my eyes. i didn't encode the audio though!

oh and this leads me to another point... i see a slight problem in the fact that the audio is compressed before you can do a compression test. i for my part at least often try to go for one cd rips first... only if the comp test value is too low or the sound is awesome so i want the ac3 file i switch to two cds - which actually happens rather frequently, since I'm usually going for quality... (: anyway my point is: won't it happen rather frequently that you compress the audio to let's say a 128 kbit mp3 and then you decide to do a 2 cd rip and rather wan't two audio tracks at 192 kbit?!? then you have to do the encoding process again... just my 2 € cents though!

steVe

well.. if you decide to keep the ac3 that's no problem, so you have wasted a few minutes but is this so bad? You can still deactivate audio in r4r and do audio compression in gknot.. (okay, no ogg at the moment but then there's no ogm output either.. if you want ogm better use dvd2ogm for the post r4r operations).
Personally I would (if I were to rip.. I only do it for academic purposes) either go with a fixed quality MP3 (128kbit/s) or the AC3 right away.. it sound good enough and I rather use the extra bitrate for video.
In any case, r4r can't do comp check before audio encoding for well known reasons, and I did try my best to decide Wef to implement the 2nd half of the process as well but I'm afraid that's just not an option right now. I'm reasonable confident though that we cover the largest common divisor when it comes to user profiles and you really can't satisfy everbody.

true, true...
thanks for your time...

Anyway thanks for all which will help

r4r is ripping everything in 4:3, even widescreen only sides of discs.  how do i fix?

@ExSport:
OK. your problem is very audio specific and i do not know the answer.
what you need is a comand line tool capeable of doing that (don't know if it's possible with besweet?) and the correct commandline options.
if you can come up with an example (maybe ask in the audio forum) i will tell you how to create a profile in r4r.

@rybread:
r4r is a ripping tool only, it does not do any resizing or encoding. you can do all that with gordian knot. its time to read s  guides!!!
