getting VTS Sectors screws up my DVD only, navigation, copyright, getting, command

trying to back up x-files series 3 disc 3 DVD. done series 1+2+ first 2 discs of this series using Ifoedit to strip audio before transcoding.
remove copyright notices using menu extras, plays fine in IFOEDIT
strip unwanted audio, plays fine in IFOEDIT
get VTS Sectors quot;illegal navigation command was encounteredquot; does not play in IFOEDIT
found a guide on curing this error message
loaded Video_TS.IFO in Ifoedit
tried  looking in VMGM MAT - First Play PGC to change Pre Command but only get this
(00000084) First Play PGC Start Byte (FP PGC)  1024   (00000400)
with no option to change pre command

if i copy Vob that contains Title 23, the first play item (20th century logo) into this folder error message goes but as soon as i get VTS sectors ( to make it play in set top player) it screws it up again     
help VERY much needed
