DVD Decrypter Error

The program has been working great for months al of a sudden I'm getting the following errors.

DeviceIoControl (IOCTL_storage_MCN_CONTROL )Failed
Unable to disable media change notification
Reason:The Paramater is incorrectCannot Write Medium Incorrect Format

I have a duel layer multiformat burner.
1 gig of ram
3gig processor.
XP

All help would be appreciated.

Rob

What procedure did you use to get this error message?  I can only hazard a guess that you've ripped your DVD to the drive with DVD Decrypter and are trying to burn it back to dual layer.  The most likely problems are:

1)  You aren't using dual-layer media
2)  You're using poor quality media (or aren't using Verbatim +R DL)
3)  You attempted to burn the disk with the .ISO file instead of the .MDS file and it's not finding the layer break

I get this message after DVD Shrink rips and starts up decrypter to burn.

Sorry I am not trying to burn to duel layer just dvd-r

Is DVD Shrink creating an .ISO image file or a DVD quot;packagequot; (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs)?

It's an ISO file

Try saving the .ISO to your hard drive and:

1) See if it PLAYS, using quot;VLCquot; (freeware) player and if it does,

2) Use DVD Decrypter (or ingBurn) to MANUALLY (rather than automatically from within DVD Shrink) burn the .ISO image file...

Ok I will try.

I am still getting the same error.

It keeps saying incompatable media. It starts to burn gets as high as 1x write speed then goes back down and errors.

Have you first, as I previously suggested, seen if the .ISO image file PLAYS, using quot;VLCquot; (freeware) player?

yes it does play with that program

1) What brand, manufacturer's ID, and format of media are you now using?

2) Have you successfully used this same media previously, with this same burner?

They are TDK,not sure how to tell id,and are DVD-r

I have used hundreds with no problem.Could some software I have installed recently affect it.

With same burner

sounds like it may be your burner.

the TDK (well, the 8x ones) are CMC mag discs made under license from TDK (so effectively they've got TDK's quality control).  they're quite reliable, and certainly getting a lot of bad burns in a row sounds like a burner issue unless all the bad discs are from the same spindle.

Thanks to all who replyed.Turns out Mug Funky was right.I put an older firmware on my burner and now it is working again.

Thanks to everyone

Glad to hear you've resolved your problem! The program has been working great for months al of a sudden I'm getting the following errors.
- But I'm curious to know when you performed the (apparently) problematic firmware update. Was it at that same time that these problems began?

Also, was that firmware update from the manufacturer's official site, or from elsewhere?

Edited for dyslexia ;gt;}

Acually I upgraded a while ago so I don't know why all of a sudden I started getting errors. The firmware was right from sony.

Then, if the ONLY thing you've now done is to rollback to an earlier formware, I don't understand how this resolved your problem - but all that counts is that it's now working properly ;gt;}
