VTS sectors in PGCEdit

My problem is this:

I've created an image for a DL disc with pgcedit (following the well-kown guide) and burned it with ingBurn and tested it on my standalone and it did not function. I then tested the VTS sectors with ifoedit and they weren't adjusted. So then I adjusted the vts sectors with ifoedit (the files ofcourse, not the image) and re-run the pgcedit guide but not burning it. Result: the vts sectors were again changed on the iso (and also on the original files).

What do i need to do in pgcedit to prevent this VTS problem and  i can finally watch it on my standalone??

I've searched the forum before posting this question but couldn't find the right solution for it.

Thanx in advance for the help

Are you sure that is your problem? I have never adjusted vts sectors in ifoedit and my dvds come out fine ( I do have the 32 sector padding enabled for the ifo and bup in PGCedit also). Sure its not a issue with your media or burner? Does the ISO play in your software player if you mount it with dameon tools? Does the DVD play in your computer dvd burner?

thanx for the reply jamos

Yes I've got the 32K enabled and yes the dvd plays on my pc and so does the image mounted in daemontools.

And now that I'm thinking, I've already burnt 2 dl with pgcedit and they played fine, except this one. The media is identical the same :s

IfoEdit's GetVTS Sectors is different to PgcEdit's with 32k on but is identical to PgcEdit if 32k is off.

If you have 32k on, IfoEdit will always adjust it back.

This is not your problem.

What media?  DMA on?  Verify your burn?  Burn speed?  Booktype set?

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

Regards

Furthermore, the VTS sectors MUST be different when you burn a DL media.  It's by adjusting those pointers that PgcEdit aligns the layer break properly.  A DVD saved by IfoEdit cannot be burnt directly on a DL disc.

Of course, you cannot change this PgcEdit behaviour.  But if you turn off the 32K gap option and you save the DVD (not from the burn dialog!), the VTS sector pointers should be identical than those computed by IfoEdit.  But, again, you will probably not be able to burn those files successfully on a DL DVD.

If the image plays fine then it should not be your image or PGCedit for that matter. Sounds like a bad disk or two. What media are you using and what drive are you burning with? Make sure to update firmware etc.

you can id your media with this nice free tool

Thanx for all your help and info people. Much appreciated. Will try it again with the newly recieved information and let you know how it went.

Note that there are some problems with the current version of DVD Remake and the current version of PgcEdit.  If you burn directly a DVD saved by DRM without saving it first with PgcEdit, the layer break is misplaced.
This problem will be fixed in the new versions of both programs.
