connection problems / no news

Seems my DSL router has died.. the LEDs are all on as they should be but the DHCP server is down and even if I manually force IP addresses I can't manage to get a connection.

I'm logged in via serial cable now (I thought I'd kill myself the day I have to use a serial port again).. but unless a wonder happens and the whole ethernet part comes back on I'm off for tonight. And I'll spend the next two days locked in a hotel to do some training and most likely without a modem line so it might well be that I won't be back until Friday evening (I also need a car to go shopping for a new router.. ours is in the shop).

Just letting you know that it isn't an MPAA conspiracy if I'm away for a short while.

It must be an MPAA conspiracy that your DSL router has failed!

don't ask me how but step for step I was able again to connect my various computers (first a direct connection to the router, then slowly plugging in cabled to the switch) and now I'm fully back online.

Yay! So now the score between Doom9-MPAA is 1:1, if you manage to crash their routers it'll be 2:1!
