fatal xvid-error message

out of the blue i get the following error-message every time i try to encode a thing with vdubmod using xvid (koepi/05.04.):

video compression error: an unknown error occurred (may be corrupt data). (error code -100)

i tried reinstalling the codec but that didn't help. the problem occurred today after booting; wasn't there yesterday.

the source is fine, i can compress to any other format np. i also tried to change about every setting but that also doesn't seem to be the cause.

i hope someone has an idea..

I don't know if this is the cause of the problem or not, but if you setup a job and save it in Vdub's job list, and afterwards you upgrade Xvid, you get that same error. So, if you have the same job that you are running again, it won't work, but if you recreated the job, you should be fine.

*Edit* This probably isn't your problem, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

puh! got it to work again. it was just too simple, so it took me half a day to find it. i pressed [load codec defaults] and all was fine. i must have clicked any weird box by accident or something..

Sweet, that solved it for me too. Now I don't have to do a system restore to like a month ago. Thanks for posting this!

MAYBE... and only MAYBE...

you are using GordianKnot (very nice app btw.)
and you did a compression-test and nothing else...
GK writes the LAST location he used into TAB:Two Pass / 1st pass stats
=gt; THIS caused the SAME trouble for me (after this location was no longer present)so it might be NOT necessary to LOAD DEFAULTS in Xvid...so long...

When you get this error message, more likely than not, you are SAVING YOUR STATS FILE TO A NON EXISTING PATH
