Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets R1 IC7 cheat sheet (4.37GB)

Instantcopy 7.02 (7.0.1.119)
DVDAnalyzeMaxRel: 5%
DVDSaveQuality: 7%

Menu at 59.01%
Uncheck Spanish AC3 5.1, French Subtitles, Spanish Subtitles in every applicable title.  Leave the English AC3 5.1 and English subtitles.
Title 1 at 67.26%
Title 3 at 30%
Title 4 at 59.01%
Title 5 at 30%
Title 6 at 59.01%

Instantcopy predicts 4.80GB.  It comes out at 4.37GB (4,692,989,952 bytes).  Add all the DVD-ROM files and it's 4.37 GB (4,700,465,825 bytes), which means you still have 6MB to spare.

Menu quality is very good, movie quality is very good, Title 4 (Year One, extra) is blocky, Title 6 (HP2 trailer) is good.

Enjoy

P.S. I think I got it right on the first time because I calculated the discrepancy between what IC7 predicted was the total size of Title 1 (7.2 GB) and what DVDToolbox said it was (6.742 GB) and added the size of that discrepancy, which I rounded to 0.45GB, to 4.35GB in InstantCopy, which gave me 4.80GB.

Thanks neo for the tip!  I'll try it out later today.

great to see you got a nice fit

just a hint, set your DVDSaveQuality to 0 cos all it does it reserve whatever % you set it too and its wasting space

set to 7 its reserving 7% of 4.31 or 4.80 (can't remember which) and is taking this from 4.31Gb which is why everyone was getting files around 4Gb unless you oversize the prediction

Maybe a little wrongly placed. I tried shrink DVD on this movie (albeit PAL). I hit 4.38 with credit-cutting. However when I redid the whole thing in CCE (3-pass, 2 x AC3 6ch lang, 1 sub, bitrate=3300 -gt; exact fit) the quality was so much better. Took me 6 hours. How long did it take with IC?

cheers

again CCE raises it's head , howdo ulfshack

the so much better quality difference along with CCE's use will all depend on varying factors of which I've posted a lot of(link to one discussion)

IC is suppposedly a one-click solution (albeit that it needs a few more ) whereas CCE ain't

as for the time issue, IC 5-10 mins setup amp; 90-150 mins processing depending on computer setup and DVD

Thanks for these settings!
It worked perfectly and the movie looked great.
I tried the movie only option with DVD Shrink and DVD2One and the Instant Copy version (with extras) looked better to me.
There is a lot of dark, fine line detail in this film which IC seemed to handle better.

BTW, I know the end credits are like 9+minutes but I'm sure they don't take much space (white text on black) and there is a little gag at the end of the credits that you need to see.

Keep posting these settings (got any for The Transporter?)  I don't have much luck with IC, I would use it more often if I could get the size to work.

Instantcopy resulting file sizes

I started posting my little quot;cheat sheetsquot; there, but stopped 45 days ago.  If everyone would post the settings (preferably just the settings that hit close to 4.37GB) from their own IC jobs there, it would save everyone a lot of trouble, you could just input the settings that are proven to work.

BTW, it seems to me that credits take up a higher bitrate than many high-bitrate scenes in the actual movie.  The credits in HP2 (original DVD) are 400 megs.

@MisterX
I know about setting DVDSaveQuality to 0, but for some reason my IC reg setting changes won't stick anymore.  IC 7.02 auto-resets the settings to default every time I start transcoding a DVD for some reason, so I'm forced to just stick to defaults.

DOH, forgot to post this ages ago

Zimmy it's a lot easier now to get nearer 4.37Gb with IC

It all depends on what the format the video is that you are processing

why set the reserve 7% only to compensate by oversizing?, everyone should really have the reserve set to 0

use InstantTools and set your DVDSaveQuality to 0 and the DVDAnalyzeMaxRel to 10%

size the DVD to fit 4.37Gb (use 4.32Gb if you like) then just look at the predicted size of the video-only for each title you are processing and add a certain percentage depending on that content

1% for 4:3 and 5% (3% or 4% to be safe again if you want) for video with small black bars top and bottom. Letterbox amp; 2.35:1 movies are unpredictable at the moment unless you keep all the extras then they work:EXTRA:  neo_sapien,
Is IC open when you change reg settings?
are you using a reg editor and is it changing the right settings in the reg?I don't think posting my settings won't really help unless you keep the same stuff from exactly same DVD as me so that's why it's easier to just do the maths yourself (according to your reg settings) and correct it if you are slightly over

I would just end up posting loadsa stuff as my settings have ranged from anywhere from 4.42 to 4.55 just most came out between 4.35 amp; 4.37Gb with the odd one over that's fixed within 10 mins or so

all I can say is use the simple percentage addition based on screen format and enjoy the results that I always get

I've got a spreadsheet somewhere where you input the video size amp; format and it tells you what you can add but I dunno where I saved it

Neo,

I forgot to post last night, but I used your settings and was able to get almost exactly the same results.

Thanks!
