Playback Problem with DivX
Hi.
I just downloaded a music video off the net and I tried to watch it however, after a few seconds, the picture froze although the audio continued to play flawlessly and the cursor in WMP was moving. I had DivX 5.02 Pro (only) installed at that time.
I tried a couple times, restarted the PC and tried to watch the video again, however the same problem occured. The video always froze at the exact same frame and the audio just kept going.
I uninstalled DivX Pro 5.02 and installed DivX 3.11 only, however it wasn't the appropriate codec (WMP started contacting the codec server). I uninstalled DivX 3.11 and installed DivX 4 only, however WMP tried to contact the codec server again (DivX wasn't the appropriate codec either).
Finally I uninstalled DivX 4 and installed 5.02 Pro and then also re-installed DivX 4 (on top of 5.02 Pro). To my amazement, when I tried to play the video, the movie would play correctly, however at the beginning of the vid the picture was all green and as I moved the cursor forward, the green color on the picture went away, however there were big squares all over the picture. Since the video would play that way, I figured that the .avi file is not corrupted and that there is a problem with the codecs or something.
Can anyone figure out why this happens ?
Thanks in advance for any help...
P.S. : I can post a link to the video if you think that it could help.
5.02 ... 5.02 ... what about 5.03?!
I haven't installed it cause many people have said not very complimentary things about the 5.03 version.
UPDATE:I installed DivX 5.0.3 Pro just to check if that was the problem and VOILA ! the problem was solved. The movie plays flawlessly now. Thanks a lot for helping me out. I never would have thought that this was the problem.
lol - you have got to be kidding me. If a video doesn't play i automatically check for a new codec. |
