Silent AC3 sound

Hi!

I'd like to play an avi-file with ac3 sound. When playing it with Media Player, BSPlay, or WinDVD 5 i can hear sound, but it is so silent, that hardly anything can be understood. This seems to be always the case, when playing any video with ac3 sound. Also it seems, that only some of the 5.1 channels can be heard, like some background sounds can be heard, but even at maximum volume no speech can be heard from the center speaker.

I use Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Ex and the analog 5.1 output for the 6 boxes.

So, what's wrong and what can i do?
