RV9 Question: No Two-Pass with Avi (and Avisynth?) Sources. Why?
Hi,
I have read a couple of times that one should not use two-pass encoding with avi/avisynth sources, but never found an explanation. So, can anybody help me here?
What is RM9?
Real Media 9
I think you mean Real Video 9... But I guess you could have just as easily meant Windows Media 9.
Yes sorry, RV9 is what I ment. ... :-/
With Helix I can do a two pass encode. Where exactly you can't use two pass?
[edit]
You edited your question don't you?
Use two pass, 1 pass is a loose of bits. You still have high motion scenes in avi that require more bitrate. I always use 2pass and quality is nice.
It has been reported that for Avisynth when the video source is AVI, using 2-pass in Producer will sometimes cause an exception fault in Avisynth. It even happens in 1-pass, and for d2v sources. I don't know what the problem could be. If someone has a repro case with a short AVI source I could give it a try with a debug Avisynth build to at least see where the crash occurs, and maybe point it out to the Avisynth developers. |
