comp results 5.02 vs 5.03 settings, always, around, posted, really

I haven't really tested this, but I always used to get compressibility results around 0.3 with divx 5.02. Now, with 5.03 it's more around 0.6 all the time (never even got that high with 5.02). My settings are roughly the same, don't know about quantizers (how do you set them in 5.03 btw?).

Any comments plz?

You can't.

I'd go back to 5.0.2.  5.0.3 is buggy, and I sure as hell don't trust it for archiving.  The tests I did yielded worse quality than 5.0.2, even with their Nth pass.

The problem is, that DivX 5.03 uses Quantizer 1. So it needs much more space, but it looks very similar, you can't view a difference. The quot;bugquot; is solved with the new Divx 5.04 Beta4.

Well back to 5.02 then, I'll wait for 5.04 final to come out.

Switching back I had the chance to compare the compressibility results, but they were the same with divx 5.02  
However, now it doesn't crash starting second pass
