so far, i've completed 28 successful backups of various kinds...but i've only burned the movie itself.
what i would like to do is burn the movie AND the main movie menu.
if my movie is setup like this:
Main Menu vob's
- video_ts.vob
- video_ts.ifo
Main Movie
- vts_01_0.ifo
- vts_01_1.vob
- vts_01_x.vob
- vts_01_4.vob
Extras
- vts_02_0.ifo
- vts_02_1.vob
- vts_02_x.vob
- vts_02_6.vob
i'm use to playing only with the Main Movie files and burning them.
how do i keep the original Main Menu with just the PLAY button active. i don't need the extras, just want the main movie menu and the movie.
how do i integrate the menu ifo's and vob's into what i'm already doing with the movie ifo's and vob's?
i'm guessing that once i've made the main movie work (smartripper, ifoedit) then i just copy the original video_ts.* files to the ripped final folder. yes...no.
thanks.
i'm trying the exact same thing...i only want the main menu and the movie files...
what i tried to do was rip all the files, then i deleted the extra's and stuff...and used ifoedit to fix the ifo file...when i then tried to test the dvd with WINdvd i was able to have the main movie play, but it wont go to the main menu...so if you find out, please tell me
Coop
@Chumboy
For that case just put these files to your VIDEO_TS folder:
- video_ts.vob
- video_ts.ifo
- video_ts.bup
- vts_01_0.ifo
- vts_01_0.bup
- vts_01_0.vob
- vts_01_1.vob
- vts_01_x.vob
- vts_01_4.vob
- vts_02_0.ifo
- vts_02_0.bup
- vts_02_0.vobIf you now burn them, you DVD-RW should work perfect with menu in your settop player.
so i need the VTS_02_x.vob set to make this work?
those contain the extras that i don't need.
NO, you don't need it!
As you can see, the directory listing ends with VTS_02_0.VOB
This is the Menu VOB. But it could be, that you don't even need to keep that one. You must test it yourself.
cool...thanks. i'll give it a try!
The main menu and movie is enough for me too.
I can get it to work in my standalone player but I guess it's not too strict on following the proper DVD specs because the same DVD-R won't work on other player in particular the PS2.
From Derrows post above, does it mean that for each vts extra you have, you need to keep the ifo file and the menu vob for each extra?
For example would I need to keep:
- vts_02_0.ifo
- vts_02_0.bup
- vts_02_0.vob
- vts_03_0.ifo
- vts_03_0.bup
- vts_03_0.vob
and so on for each vts title set?
that's what i am assuming....
you need to keep the extra's menu files to fool the main menu into thinking it's still there. but since you don't have the extra's main vob's, the those choices on the main menu will be deadends.
i guess.
seems like derrow is saying it's different for each dvd.
isn't the video_ts.vob the main menu vob file???
quot;isn't the video_ts.vob the main menu vob file???quot;
that's what i thought too....all the menu's are in that 1 vob, so all in all, you just need to keep the ifo and bup files for the extra's and such, and that should be enough to have it work in a settop ?
Coop
should i use the video_ts.ifo/bup that ifoedit creates, or should i copy the original video_ts.ifo/bup to the final output directory?
up cause i like to know if someone try it and if it actually works
SuperNova. NTSC.
entire disc was 4.12gig.
smartripper, backup mode.
removed ALL VOB's except the movie's and the video_ts.vob (if present). kept everything else.
test and final burn worked perfectly...kept menu to play movie (and scenes).
beautiful.
No, it doesn't work. I did the test with a DVD-5 movie. Two disk, disk #1 with all the files (burned with Primo) and disk #2 without extra vobs (burned with Nero 5.5.6.4, Primo does not acept this), I included VTS_XX_0.IFO and VTS_XX_0.VOB to fool the player. My Sony could be fooled, it plays both disks without problems, but JVC, LG and Daewoo players only play disk #1 (1:1 copy).
as derrow said, every disc is different.
you need to check each disc differently.
i've only tested it on my sony-300+1, but that's the only settop i have. don't see a need to make sure it works on a dvd player i don't have.
was the entire disc 4.12 gb's after you riped out streams or is the dvd just 4.12 gb's total?
4.12 total.
very unusual.

No? Well, I don't expect to have this Sony player forever. I need the best compatibility I could get.
interesting...
hadn't thought about that.
hmmmmmmm...
alright, so lets try my movie now

the movie files is 4.81 gb's untouched...i planed on ripping out the unwanted 2 channel audio streams. this gets it down to a smaller nicer size.. the menu file is 424 mb's..so what i did was use rempeg on it, and got it down to 100 mb's (not to shabby)...so now my real question is, what do i do now to get this dvd to work?
Coop
keep the video_ts.vob
seems like your movie is vts_08_x.vob...keep those vobs.
move all other vob's to a temp directory.
test import into geardvd.
if it doesn't like it, replace some of the other vob's. don't know which ones, you have to test yourself. |
