What movie should they release on DVD?

To answer your question:

Invitation for a gunfighter...
Married with children on DVD...
Twin Peaks on DVD...
STTNG on DVD...
Serpent's egg...
Escape from New York...

If there is a good release of the above, please let me know (with good I mean, good a/v quality+some special features and I don't count trailers to be a special feature  ).

How about those movies we want a GOOD DVD edition?

Like:

Lone Wolf McQuade...
Heat...
Millers crossing...
Naked gun...

Just a few that came through my mind.

Cheers,

Ookie.

I want quot;Back to the Futurequot; on DVD!!!

Thats the only one which comes into my mind.

The Indiana Jones trilogy. Not that I like the movies that much, but they're among those movies that are quoted all the time as needing a DVD. Also, The Age Of Innocence, a somewhat forgotten but beautiful Scorsese movie. And a decent DVD of Goodfellas, the current one sucks. (single layered dual sided? ugh!)

Kiki's Delivery Service

(little of-topic) - how about *way* more dvds with dts sound streams ?

I don't know how good they are but Twin Peaks is already out on DVD.

From amazon:

Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
• Color, DTS Surround Sound, Box set
• Commentary by directors
• Contains episodes 1-7 (complete first season except the pilot)
• Newly remastered
• Directors' audio commentaries
• On-camera interviews with the cast
• Interviews with cinema amp; TV experts
• Archival materials from the fanzine quot;Wrapped in Plasticquot;
• Log Lady introductions
• Number of discs: 4(Why they  list both 'commentary by directors' and 'directors' audio commentaries' I don't understand). The pilot is also available on DVD, but it's a different studio so it's not included in this set.

LOL to the Kiki post  BTW I have a nice 2 CD DiVX of that

@Kedirekin:

If you live in Germany, then this will make you happy

cgi-bin/store/....cgi?p_id=2078

@oddball:

damn, i only have the first part in vcd.
And now my most wanted dvd's with availability here in Germany:
clerks amp; the animated series
rashomon
2061 amp; 3001 (but the have to make the movies first  )

does anyone know UNICO? that little unicorn? i'd love to see that on dvd!

I do have a fairly good DSS capture of Kiki on two-disc SVCD, but I really want it on DVD.

Good news to hear it's on DVD in Germany.  Looks like it's from the Japanese market.  Also looks like it has some good extras.  However, the english voice-over is very good, and I kind-of want that version.  I believe Disney owns the rights here in the US.  I hope they release it on DVD, and sooner rather than later.

Batman amp; Batman Returns (my bad if they r already on dvd!)

slightly OT:
I was checking to make sure E.T. wasn't available on DVD at IMDB when I found out Speilburg is pulling a Lucas and re-releasing ET (in theaters followed by DVD) this year, and digitally changing parts of the movie.

AlternateVersions?0083866 has a list of the changes made.

among them:

-a new, CGI-enhanced scene showing E.T. and Elliot taking a bath together. The scene was originally scrapped because Spielberg thought the animatronic effects weren't up to par;

Can we say Jabba?

-in the original release, the government agents pursuing E.T. and Elliot had weapons in their hands; the new edition digitally replaces them with walkie-talkies;

Rumor is to appease Drew Barrymoore who is anti-gun.

-In the original cut, Elliot and his mom go to the principal after the frog incident. The principal was played by Harrison Ford, the screenwriter's husband. The scene might be featured in the 2002 edition.

Can we say Jabba?

-Elliot's mother's prohibition to go trick-or-treating dressed as quot;a terroristquot; has been changed to quot;a hippiequot;;

Lets make elliot's mother have an irrational hatred of hippies, just so no one gets upset when hearing the word quot;terroristquot;.

The SE DVD is said to include the original version and the re-release, but I wonder how original the original version will be?

EDIT:
@oddball: The line 'Penis breath' was removed. (Don't think it's worth a new post, so I just tacked the answer in here)

No doubt the original version will still have certain lines changed. Wasn't there a part where Elliot is insulting his brother/friend with some term to do with genitals? I cannot remember the line but I think it was changed in later showings I saw on TV.

...f*cking Star Wars Trilogy?

If any movie(s) ever begged to be released on DVD, these are it!!!

George Lucas, you need to wake up.

dragoman

@oddball

u are right - i believe the term was p*nis breath

DTS Porno all the way!!!

lol, tera patrick 5.1 ??

How about some pr0n with decent production values for a change ?  pr0n dvds are quite possibly the best example of how not to make a dvd - i don't mind seeing macroblocks in my backups but on the DVD for f**ks sake..... grumble, grumble.....

Also, Star Wars Trilogy - man, does that ever need DVD release.  Unfortuneatly i can't see that happening too soon, ....grumble.

first things first:

all quot;batmanquot; movies are on DVDs.. and batman 5 is in production.
quot;Escape from New-Yorkquot; was released on DVD... i have it!

what i want to see released on DVD:

Star wars Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy (number 4 is in pre-production.. :-))
Back to the Future Trigoly
PCU
The Ghost in the machine
Super Snooper (SuperFuzz)
Flesh and blood
BladeRunner (the ORIGINAL version)
Naked Lunch
Wild At heart

thats all that comes to mind....

look for STTNG on dvd in North Amercia this March.

Back to the Future I hear is coming in the summer.

Batman Animated series is coming, along with yet to be released on dvd animated movie (i forget the name)
