DVDLab v1.0 thoughts? experience, products, although, everyone

What're everyone's thoughts on the DVDLab.... I've been an intermediate author (up on VOB/IFO structures-GOP structures etc..., but not much app experience).  As far as apps go, this looks pretty solid, but I was wondering if anyone had any real-world usage and end products to show for it.  Maybe it's too early... who knows...Steve-o

Yeah, I think it's a little early to draw any firm conclusions yet, although some Doom9 members have had a bash with it. I have downloaded the trial/beta, but have yet to transfer it onto my own computer to install it, after which I will definitely repost here with my findings. As I've said elsewhere on the board, I am quite excited by the potential of this application, if it is developed aggressively to add greater power. As it stands, it [I]appears[/I ] to be remarkably powerful, especially considering the price, and the fact that it has been coded by one (highly-talented) individual.Arky  ;o)

How do I get ahold of the demo/beta of the program. Everytime I try to download it from the site it ask for a username and password. Does anyone know who do I need to contact there at mediachance to get ahold of the beta to test out?

I read through the specs and was pretty interested until I found it didn't support subtitles.  I use subtitles for most of my work and it's a must-have feature to get me to switch from quot;other softwarequot;.

Would also be nice to support multiple audio tracks.  Multiple angles aren't too important to me however.

Oscar's working hard and it's absolutely incredible what he's already managed to achieve by himself when you consider that it normally takes TEAMS of coders to produce a decent (and often rubbish, naming no names) authoring app. I think there is enough in the beta already, to demonstrate that their is massive potential for Oscar in developing a killer bargain DVD-authoring app.Arky  ;o)

I used DVDLab to generate a DVD by merging 2 family movies I had on SVCD. Worked great, very easy to use, I designed menus in DVD MEnu studio from the same author and imported in PSD format. Assigning actions to menus and buttons was easy and everything worked fine.

As far as movies are concerned, it is a bit quot;lightquot; (no subs, nom multi pgc, and so on). Definitely not a competitor for Scenarist (but surely not targeted at the same audience nor at the same wallets...)
A very good tool for your quick and easy projects like family movies for example.

I like it, hope improvements and new features will come soon. By the way, this mediachance site is really interesting, with all kinds of great apps about image processing. If you guys are interested in digital photography and image processing, this is a cool place to visit and to download from.
