capturing from VHS settings, win, especially, nothing, checked

Hi guys
hope u can help since nobody so far was successful
trying to capture an NTSC tape on a pal/ntsc vcr with my geforce4 ti4600 (gainward). i tried with wincoder and nvidia wdm 1.2.3 (shippedd with videocard). i get the signal from vcr (both video and audio) but the picture is in black and white. also tried v/dub and vdubmod but no luck
tried playing around with format settings but nothing, especially win coder with has an ntsc/pal tab

Have you checked the cables?
It seems stupid, but I have found this problem two times, because of a broken pin on a S-cable. If you use S, try one time with a composite cable.

Check your country settings in your software/drivers. And maybe your VCR doesn't support NTSC, anyway (you wrote it does, are you sure?  ).

yeah checked tha cables and tried with s-video and composite but same problem.
to OOkami, my vcr does support ntsc 'cause i can see the picture on tv in color+it says on it.where do i set the drivers for country?

Many quot;dual systemquot; vcr's will play NTSC tapes synch'd and in color only to a PAL TV, and not to another, even dual system, vcr.  They also don't like NTSC vcr's as input, either composite or svideo.  NTSC tapes regularly go out black and white through the jacks.  If you don't have the ability to record in NTSC, you likely have a unit like this.

in such situation i got only to about 15fps with
btwincap set to quotAL60quot; as input standard....
VHS i used was branded quot;NTSC playback on PAL tvquot;
(this is PAL60 in other words)

i believe for proper NTSC capture in PAL country you need
proper (real) NTSC machine with some kind of mains converter (220-gt;110V) or the real multistandard VCR (these are quite expensive)

* You are trying to capture from a VCR, that you say SUPPORTS the
PAL and NTSC (either or) ??

* What capture app R U using ?? ..vdub, avi_io etc. ??

* What is your Capture driver ?? WDM or VFW ??
