or cd-recordable.com. Has anyone else recieved this problem? if so what did you use to fix it?
I am currently burning with prassi, ripping with smartripper, structering with ifoedit. Hardware is pioneer-A03. Im wondering if this might be a heat issue? Disc issue? Hardware issue? Software issue? if anyone has recieved this problem, PLEASE REPLY, even if remotely close, i just cant seem to get passed this one, thanks!
Make sure your A03 firmware is at either 1.65 or 1.68 (I'm using 1.68) Also, you might want to select 1x for burning and see if that makes a difference. You might also want to spring for a few Apple DVD-r (5 bucks a pop from their website) and see if they burn correctly. That will help determine whether it's the media. BTW, the apples are re-branded Pioneer disks from what I've heard so you get an 8 dollar disk for 5. I've been burning the CD-Recordable disks without problem, but I have heard of many that have problems.

I have had similar problems, Using nero, for a while the burned dvd's worked fine, then for no appearent reason i started to get 'invalid dvd' messages from my set top players. I found switching to image burning from a raw or .image file with dvd-it solved the problem..
I haven't tried burning an image with DVDIT. so i imagine i just change the name of the image from quot;whatever.ingquot; to whatever dvdit wants. i'll give this a shot after re-installing prassi. how many other people are having this problem? like i said before, i am using apple dvd-rs, which you think would be the most compatible. i hope its just the software....
I've had similar problems with DVD-R's that skipped like halfway through. I put the DVD burner on another computer and then burned the same folders using Prassi and it turned out fine. I still have no idea what the problem was, but whatever it was it works now. I'm using firmware 1.4 on the A03 drive btw.
So options that are the same that i havent tried, are:
1. Placing the write in another computer.
2. Switching writing programs.
3. Writing Image instead of creation.
Whats the general concensous? Has anyone found these to not change the outcome of a bad disc? Has anyone double checked to see if these ideas actually work?
It seems that more ppl than just me have these issues, so maybe we can all check these and hopefully some ppl go home happy?
Thanks
okay, I re-installed prassi and burned one apple dvd-r and one pioneer dvd-rw using the same image file. results... sakme problem with dvd-r but dvd-rw worked fine! basically, i still dont have a clue as to whats going on. i haven't tried the dvd-it thing. i'll try that then put the drive and prassi on a diff computer. can anyone back my results up? or offer some insite? if its the prassi software, those fuckers are gonna owe me some money
xsirxx,
As I understand your problem you get sector errors when reading the data back even when reading with the same unit you used to burn the DVD. Correct?
The most likely source of this kind of problem is the firmware on your drive (reference Roveer's response above). It could also be attributed to bad DVD-R blanks. What version of A03 firmware are you using?
dvd's. Good Luck
Hi,
disable DMA with the Pioneer A03. The drive's not able to record correct if set to DMA Mode tranfers. There maybe exeptions, but in general PIO Mode 4 is the right choice.
Has been reported on the Pioneer troubleshooting page. I can confirm this, solved my probs with communication errors.
Disabling DMA Mode in Windows Hardware Manager is sufficient. In Win9x at the drive's folder in Win2k on the adapter page !

I used the firmware that came with the drive, and upgraded to the latest i believe 1.65, same problem... that didnt help.
And to the first question, yea i have bad read sectors even on the same drive that i burned it on. As well as in set tops.
discs hardly gave me a problem with my pioneer a03 (1.68 fw), but the meritline ones skip like mad about 40% into the movie...
*EDIT* the skipping is less frequent on my pioneer 525, it's very livable..the cd-recordable.com media worked fine (for the most part) in my pioneer 525 *and* my aiwa NDV-526 3-dvd home theater system, so i'm gonna be stuck with 25 dvd's that only play on one settop it seems..
i´ve got the same problem.
burning the image with pioneer a03 and firmware 1.68, set the transfer-mode to pio, burned with prassi/gear...nothing works...
every dvd has some tiny black points all over the disc...(apple)
horrible, i´m reinstalling winxp now..but i don´t think that this would help.
btw. i perfectly cleaned the dvd before....any idea what i should do next???mcpi got it to work finally. i updated the a03's firmware, updated prassi's engine, put drive into pio mode and it worked. allthough i have only burnt one dvd-r, i'll have to try some more to make sure i didn't just get lucky.
ok, i´ve made a clean install of winxp and set the pio mode on for my a03.
but prassi don´t recognize my burner, if i set the mode to udma the burner will be recognized.
could you please tell me if you have set the mode to udma on ???
thx,mcp
may be this can help ...
after i turned ON DMA on my pioneer, i got this error while burning :
quot;Error -10 at Sector 162368 - Command:2A Sense:04 ASC:08 ASCQ:01quot;.
just like it is said on pioneer troubleshootings page.
and indeed, the drive is recognised a CDROM MODE4 in bios.
so i turned it back to PIO mode in my windows 2000.
got to burn another dvd-r to check if DMA ON was the cause.
'll let u know.

mcp, i dont know much about xp. but erwan maybe right. i burned another disk and everything worked out fine. if prassi gives you problems when the drive is in pio mode, in the xp os... i would give pioneer a call. they were very helpfull with me, although they had never heard about this problem. they offered to replace the drive if my tests didn't work. good luck to you buddy. and IMO, xp isnt the os for doing stuff like making underground dvds using consumer and freeware tools. try 2000
sorry, but now nothing works anymore.
at the weekend, prassi worked fine, but now, after installing it on my system, the cd-drives won´t be recognized anymore. i don´t know why, so i´ll give gear a try... (i know that it works, too)
@noodles009
try xp, it´s the best, you would never install win2000k, when you have seen xp in action.
the desktop is great, the game compatibility is greater and the never coming blue-screen is the greatest feature of xp.
and i think that every program that has been programmed for win2k should work on xp,too, because the os is based on the win2k kernel.
(the win2k drivers work also)Hi folks!
i had these same problems too. Do you use Force Aspi? If you use it you should disable it per killaspi.bat. My Problem was the when i have burned a dvd Vob instant stopped in the middle of the disc. I have tried everything but then i had a idea that i use this Force aspi. so i disabled it and burning is fine. The only thing for that i enable force ASPI is for ripping all the other stuff works fine without it. I am talking about Windows XP Proffessionel in combination with a AMD 1200.
I hope it helped you a little bit with your problem...Streetcleaner |
