What are TS files, and how do i join them together ?

TS files are Transport Stream MPEG-2 video streams.  to find more information. To split/join .ts files, use TSMerge.

I tried both links to download TSMerge, and neither works.  Nor did Google help in my search.  Since this utility seems to be the only one that will solve my problem, I'm really eager to get it.  Have you any idea where it can be found, I'll gladly pay for it ?

The links work for me. Try this link (right click and save as..) - dxefewctpx+/pe...erge-1.3.0.zip

It is Freeware. You don't have to pay.

I'm also looking for a utility that can split a ts file into 2 but the link provided doesn't work. Please help!

Also consider HDTVtompeg2. It does the job of splitting and merging well. You can just search it ..it's free.

ProjectX will demux TS files: Soft21/DigiTV/ProjectX_0.90.4.zip

He doesn't want to demux, and ProjectX does that IF you're lucky (the audio it usually does demux though). Much more reliable for such kind of job is the latest DGindex (demuxes DTS also).

Not sure if ProjectX can do the first part of this problem but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
Problem
I have a video mpv file with a matching ac3 audio and a matching subtitle srt format file - I want to combine them into a mpeg2 TS file so that I can add the Topfield rec header in ProjectX to upload into my Topfield 5000PVRt.
