DVD Shrink Says Disk is empty
I was backing up some DVD's and I came across one that DVD SHrink says is empty, but plays in my DVD player. It will not play with Nero Showtime or Windows Media 10. The disk takes forever to read by the drive when inserted into the PC. Has anyone ran across this yet. I searched the forum but nothing came close to this; other then the new Sony protection. The DVD in question is made by Freestyle Home Entertainment. The movie is Dirtier Deeds... Any Ideas?
Thanx,
WB
Hi!
Have you tried cleaning the DVD?
If, after cleaning, it still won't play on your PC, return it to the place of purchase in exchange for a new replacement...
I tried cleaning the dvd and the drive. All my software says disk is empty. I put it in another pc today at work and it did the same thing. So I took it back to the store where I got it and they would not let me return it because it had been open. So I decided to buy another one just to see if it was that disk or if there might be another answer to this. Well, the new disk does the same thing. Now I don't need to back this one up, but it leaves me wandering what is encoded on it to make it read (quot;not readquot;) that way. My drive is only a year old, if that, and my software is all updated. Plus, it plays in an old Apex dvd player with no problems.... Very interesting....
So I took it back to the store where I got it
What part of the world are you in? I ask because I can't find a store that's got this DVD for sale...
EDIT - Now that I've tracked it down, I can tell you that the Region 1 version of this DVD contains NO newer copy protection (only ancient CSS) and can be readily ripped by DVD Decrypter or any other ripping software that you may choose. I can also tell you that I encountered NO difficulty playing on any PC or standalone DVD player... |
