Woohoo! My new comp came today!!

Well, I finally did it, I broke down and bought a new computer today.

It's very nice....a Sony Vaio Notebook, 1.6 Ghz Pentium 4, 512 MB DDRAM, 32 MB DDRAM Video Memory (Radeon 7500 Mobile chip), 40 GB HD, Integrated modem/network, 3USB ports, 1 Memory Stick port, Video Out.

15quot; screen, full size keyboard....scrolling button, and two battery bays for two batteries.  DVD/CDRW drive (16x write!), 1 PCMCIA slot.

This is the most amazing machine I have ever had.  My desktop is a 800 Athlon Thunderbird.  I decided since I am traveling quite a bit lately I needed something I could take with me, and I also wanted something to encode movies on on the road, and burn them to cd.

BTW, it is right now zooming through the 1st pass of a DivX 5.01 Pro encode at 28fps.....yes!!  Gone are the days of a 12fps max encode...

How much did I pay for this machine do you ask?  I found it at Circuit City for 2200 bucks....little much, but a good deal I thought for this laptop....

Only drawback - weighs close to 9 pounds and has a surface area of about half an acre.....

The screen is enormous..my previous laptop had a screen of 12in, which looking at this one is amazingly small.

Woohoo!  Finally a new machine...
