i recently installed a new burner (cendyne lightning II 32x12x40) which is actually a lite-on ltr-32123s, but anyway, cdrwin says there is no cd burner on the scsi or ide bus. other progs i have have no problem with it. i uninstalled, reinstalled cdrwin, same deal. there is a screen shot attached to this post. i didnt have this problem before. also, i just installed ezcd creator 5.1 platinum, and it seems that it only handles vcd's, not svcd's??!! anyway, thanks in advance for any help. i tried a search on cdrwin errors and cdrwin not recognizing etcgt; but couldnt find anything. nor could i find anything in cdrwin's help section. thanks, falcor
CDRWIN is one of those programs that seems to need to specifically support your drive. Make sure you have the latest version as they are always adding drives. I cannot use any version lower then 3.8G myself.
Whatever you do don't use EZ-CDcreator for video. On the whole the internet community has a very low opinion of that program. When Adaptec EZ-Cdreator became Roxio it went downhill fast.
In my opinion these are the best burning programs for video.
CDRWIN
VCDEasy (free too)(you can find it at )
CDRAO (is actually the burner software used in VCDEasy)
Nero (sometimes, I don't like using it for Cue files, only VCD's and not SVCD's)
Daemon tools and Nero (for Cue files, much better then straight burn of the Cue files in Nero)
Mark
Install your aspi layers.
Soft21/SupportU...orceaspi17.rar
Should fix things up for you.
@mark i had a lite-on drive that cdrwin didnt have a problem with, now i have this other lite-on drive, neither of which were on the compat. list. and i have, i think, the latest ver of cdrwin. (4.0). i am bummin if i cant use cdrwin, i think its a great prog. owell, i guess i'll try fireburner or do the daemon to nero bit. thanks bro.
@gooki yeah, i did all the force aspi stuff, no go, thanks tho

Fireburner is another program that is not recomended. Many people are having issues with it and video files.
If you do try it make sure you only use Disc at Once. People are having better luck with that setting.
My current burner is a TDK 241040B and is a Lite-On clone of their 24x unit. CDRWIN would not regcognize it until I upgraded to 3.8G, just like the issue you are having.
The 4.0 version is actually a beta and not a full release. They are continuing to develop the 3.8 line until 4.0 is fully released.
For Cue files VCDEasy rules and it's free too.
Mark
hmm, i didnt realize 4.0 was beta (till i read you rpost then looked at my install prog which says cdrwin 4.0B E T A duh. i wonder if i could get 3.8 and it would work, or i could just do as you say and use vcdeasy. i mean if it works for you . . ..
i did use daemon and clone and that seemed to work pretty well. oh, as a side note, my new burner cendyne lightning II 32x12x40 friggin R O C K S ! ! ! okay, a shameless brag, i am over it
well, thanks as always. peace FALCOR |
