I used gordian knot to rip the dvd to avi, looks great. But one problem... No sound! Where do i get the sound? I thought dvd2avi would automatically add the sound? WHere do i get it from and how do i ad it to the movie? please help thanks!
If you've followed Doom9's guide, you will find a series of .ac3 files were created during the dvd2avi step. The text description file created by SmartRipper can tell you which audio stream ... which translates to which ac3 file, you want.
However, one common mistake new users make is when they forget to select the quot;Audio 1quot; tab during encoding, which is where one sets up the conversion of ac3 dolby digital into mp3 stereo. That's my guess.
So what woud i put in the Audio 1 Tab? the .ifo file? I have 3 .AC3 files, and i decoded them to mp3 to see what one it was and they all sounded like commentaries on the flick.. Lemme know thanks.

how could you tell? For future reference with different movies..that may have more or less .ac3 files?
Oh, and one final question just to be sure.. In Gordian Knot, where u select the bitrate and everything, what is this last box in the image shown, is that where im supposted to supply the T01 File as well? Or no? Thanks...
I can tell because Stream E0 = Video, 80 = Audio track 1, 81 = Audio track 2, etc. I learned that from poking around in the DVD Basics and DVD Related guides on Doom9's web pages.
That box you've circled is NOT for audio. Audio goes in the first box on the left, or the 2nd box if you use 2 audio tracks in your avi file. That third box is for OTHER files that you want included on your CD, such as subtitles, executables (player, autorun, codec installer, etc), and .ini files.
I'm sure you've gone through Doom9's GKnot guide. It's in there.
And the reason that Track 4 (another 2 channel audio track) wasn't demuxed: It is sound that is not in the main program chain. It could be very short ... sound that goes with a leader... or it may be sound for bonus material..
so 81 will awlays be the track i need for english audio? It's strange because up there 81 was frence.. could u elaberate on it a little more?
You cannot say that some specific number audio track will always be the english audio, that is up to the people who mastered the DVD. I have noticed that with region 1 DVD's the first audio track (80 not 81) is usually the english audio but I have also seen exceptions (though your DVD does not seem to be one of the exceptions). Smartripper usually tells one which track is which language.

Yes actually, because 81 on there said it was the frence audio, and not english, and thats the one i used and it came out in english! Just a little puzzled thats all...
x'80' = Track 1, x'81' = Track 2, etc. You chose Track 1 if it came out in English, most likely.
