SVCD2DVD output on 16:9 screen
Hi,
I'm using DVD2SVCD 1.2.1. bld 3. I notice that aspect ratio tab shows 16:9 (borders added, encoding 4:3). I want to buy a wide screen projector (BenQ 8700, 1280X720 native), but if I view this will it will show up as a stretched 4:3 OR, or in a 4:3 size window but with bars on top and bottom?
I've only had standard 4:3 TV and I never paid attention to this before, and I'm felling a little sheepish if I encoded my library this way and it's going to cause me problems. I've not seen any posts with people having this problem, so I hope I'm just showing my naivette.
Thanks,
Zot
Hi!
Your video has black bars on the topamp;bottom encoded into it. It cannot be removed. 2 possible solutions:
-you can watch it in '4:3 on 16:9' mode. Black bars will be added on the leftamp;right also. Your projector will have this picture mode.
-Much better: You can zoom on the picture area. This will give a full 16:9 picture.
The first option is recomended only if you have subtitles in the encoded black bars in the top or bottom.
Hi Manngo!
Thanks for your response. That's what I was afraid of. But I guess 4:3 mode (or zoomed in) on a 10 foot screen is still better than a 32quot; TV :-)
Is it it possible to encode without the bars for future projects?
Thanks!
Zot
Yeah. Choose 4:3 (no borders, encode as 4:3).
You will end up with no black bars but the output will look squished horizontally. However, all W/S TV's are able to stretch this out like they do 4:3 TV broadcasts, only in this case it will be correcting the AR not stretching the pic horizontally. I guess your projector will be no exception.
Give it a go!
