VDub can't write gt;2GB avi?
Got interesting problem with VirtualDub 1.4.10.
I have two AVI files. I produced them myself, so the frame rate, codec, picture size etc are the same. I want to merge them.
I load first one in VirtualDub, its size is 1555 MB. Then I quot;append AVI segmentquot;, another file, its size is 642 MB.
I choose direct stream copy for video and audio, then I do quot;save as AVIquot;, set the name and press OK.
VirtualDub saves 2186 MB AVI and at the very end of operation the small dialog box pops up. It says quot;Maximum number of extended AVI indices exceeded (256)quot;. The resulted AVI is not loadable to any player, it seems that it has no index. I tried to load it in VirtualDub with quot;rederive keyframe infoquot; option and then save under another file name - the same happens. quot;Restrict legacy AVI support to 1 gigabytequot; option is off of course.
Is it possible to write gt;2GB AVIs with VirtualDub? If yes - how do I get rid of that error?
Details:
Both videos are DivX 4.12 2-pass VBR encoded, audio is MP3, encoded by Lame.
My OS is Windows XP, file system is NTFS. 512MB RAM, 80 GB HDD etc. Just a high end game/NLE PC.
You might try doing this append operation using Nandub. Vdub doesn't (or didn't) support mp3 audio.
Both Vdub and Nandub support mp3 (how do you think I made all the movies with mp3 audio in my collection _solely_ with Vdub? huh
Nandub gives the same message: quot;Maximum number of extended AVI indices exceeded (256)quot;. I think the culprit is crappy Vdub code or maybe some hardcoded restrictions in AVI format. Anyhow, I can easily write 6-9GB MPEG2 files, no problem whatsoever, but AVI... it's full of xxxx. I'll post my troubles with AC3 sound in gt;2GB AVIs here soon, you'll see for yourself. It's time to get rid of that load of xxxx if we ever want to be able to get decent rips with AC3 sound etc |
