Why buy TMPGenc DVD Author?

I heard great reviews on the TMPGenc DVD Author software.
What I do not understand yet (newbie) is why would you buy the DVD authoring software when you can...download DVD Decrypter (burn the movie) and DVD Shrink (rip the movie into ISO or file) to do the job for free??   Could you explain? Thank you.

this app is not an encoder/transcoder, it is used to mux your raw video/audio into vobs, so this is a simple program for ppl who only need one audio track per video file and no subtitles. imo, it is a great app to make a quick movie only dvd out of from my old divx backups. it is totally an app for newbies, but it does have it's purpose.

I use it primarly for converting my DVD RAM recordings to DVD - or DVD +.

Author is a relatively complete authoring program that allows you to import either existing VOB files (from DVD Shrink, for example) or MPEG2 files, and generate a complete DVD, including menus, and to edit each clip regarding start and end positions. As an authoring program, as opposed to a copying program, it allows you to combine multiple clips and have a menu. If you re-author using DVD Shrink your menus will go away. I'm a newbie, but the combination of DVD Shrink, DVD Decryptor, TMPEG Xpress 3.0 and Author allows me to do just about anything I need to do.
