Capturing problem with Virtualdub

How u doing people? Im a newbie in here. Hope you can help me out. Ive bought a cature video card (Flyvideo 3000FM)and a Samsung Writemaster DVD Burner. I try to capture my VHS tapes with Virtualdub but i cant. ive follow the guide, but nothing happens. Virtualdub shows me the images from the VCR/CABLE but when i tried to capture, and error dialog box appears, telling me that I should connect my Capture card or change image depht to 16 or 24.

This only happens with VD, cause i tried Ulead Movie Factory Disc Creator, and it captures without a problem. The reason why i wanna use VD is because it cames with a lot of add ons and filters that quot;i assumequot; will capure better quality than others.

Hope you can help me. As i told u , im newbie in here.

Pentium IV 1.6Ghz
512 MB Ram
100 GB HD + 40 GB HD
Flyvideo300FM TV Tuner/Capture card
Acer CD Writer
Samsung DVD Writer.

P.D. Sorry fopr my english too. Im from South america, so english isnt my native language.

Cheers

good day sir

your problem is that virtualdub doesnt like to capture with the wdm drivers. I have the same card as you and find virtual vcr to be excellent. If you capture with a lossless codec or mjpeg which is quite good, you can load up the resulting avi in virtualdub and perform all kinds of filters on it then.

the reason it captures for you in movie facory is because that program utilises wdm drivers.

so give virtual vcr a go and see what you think
