CCE stopping bug

Every once in a while, cce will hang while encoding a segment.  Maybe one out of 200--less than 1% of the time.  I see that others have had similar problems.
When this happens, every other program I've tried (msoft media player, core mediaplayer, virtualdub, etc.) all play the avs file just fine.  It's only cce that hangs.  And every version of cce that I've tried hangs.  Loading the item.ecl file into cce manually, and click encode, and it fails.  I usually use CCE sp 2.66.01.07.

I've tracked it to the presence of quot;AudioDub(BlankClip())quot; in the avs file.  If I edit the item.ecl file and delete that line, it works fine.  Clearly, this is a bug in cce.

BTW, I'm running an AMD 2400+.

Thing that keeps tripping me up, is that DVD-RB keeps turning on the AudioDub Option, and turning off the idct=7 option.  I usually do batch converts, and it seems to ignore the fact that I've set these options in the saved project file.  It acts like it's ignoring those flags from the project and setting them off amp; on, respectively, according to some decision it makes when first it starts up.

Interesting.  My experience is similar.  Every now and then, very rarely, I will come back to my computer only to find it frozen during a CCE encode (only then).  I reboot and start over, and everything is fine.  I've always blamed the computer...

I haven't experienced this since I use an Opteron based workstation as the main home PC (L1/L2 cache and memory ECC enabled ). Maybe it is hardware related anyway, video encoding heavily stresses hardware components, especially CPU and memory (and MCH if it's not an A64/Opteron CPU).
Latest non-beta build of CCE SP (2.67.00.27) has a statement in version history that some rare hanging issue was corrected.
Have you tried this version too? Same experience?

Hmmm... didn't notice that statement.  I can say, though, that the only time I've ever seen that computer hand is when running CCE.  But to be fair, it is my quot;dedicated for videoquot; computer and spends every night and day cranking out DVD-RB tests... so there is a lot of CCE encoding going on.

Since I'm going away for the weekend -- I think I'll load about 20 copies of the same project file in and let it run and see if it hangs.
