movie jumps evry 5 seconds or so when...

I have reencoded  divx files to svcd format to get them to fit onto a dvd.

i added them in meastro as the guides show and it burns fine.

only prob is that when the movies play, they jump(stutter for about half a second) about evry 5 secs and its really annoying.

is there a better way to get movies to dvd(more than 1 film on a dvd) without having the stuttering? and loosing much quality.

I've never tried this, but I bet you could re-encode in dvd format, but use a really low bitrate, like 2000 or something, and you could fit 2 or 3 on a dvd.  Trying to fit more than that is just going to get nasty.  Even at 2000 you'll get some pretty bad blocks and stuff.  It will be obvious that you compressed it, even on your tv.

Another option - try the guide on that shows how to put SVCD on dvd-r's.  It might be an answer for you too.  SVCD's look pretty good if you use a decent bitrate.

Also - dvd-r prices are down in price that it's not a big savings, especially on time to recompress, to put more than one on a dvd.  I suggest just keeping the original video content - unless the size doesn't allow it.
