Nero won't allow DVR-108 to burn.
I'm running Nero Burning ROM 5.551056 (latest update 9/04). I installed a Pioneer DVR-108 over a week ago and have been trying to get Nero to use it for that long. Nero obviously quot;seesquot; it because it shows it under Medium Info as a Pioneer DVD-R/W DVR 108 and will fetch the medium info from a disc in that drive. It also will test the 108's read speed under CDA in the Audio CD set up. But it will not let me choose it under quot;Choose Recorderquot; (it isn't shown as a choice). I used quot;force CD detectionquot;. It detected it and put it's parameters in a file and asked me to mail that file to Nero. But it still won't show up as a burner choice. I have a DVR-104 on the same IDE channel which Nero will allow to burn. I'm running XP with SP2. I've e-mailed Nero, but you know what a waste of time that is. I've used Ahead's General Clean Tool to completely remove all Nero components then reinstalled just the Burning Rom, which did nothing. Any ideas?
When I installed A07, Nero 5.5 was unable to record, because of the same reason like yours: I does not know how to write on that device.
I was forced to use Nero 6 (wich I don't like!)
Fortunately, some month later Nero 5.5.10.56 was posted on Ahead site, with support for A07, so I uninstalled Nero 6 and Installed 5.5.10.56.
Same thing is happening now. I also have A08 and was forced again
to install Nero 6.
I am not happy with it (again!), and looking every day on Ahead site hoping that upgrade for 5.5 will eventualy be posted.
To be honest, I think that 5.5.10.56 was LAST version of Nero 5.5.
jmartina, I have the feeling myself that we'll find no further updates of 5. I bought the 6 quot;litequot; version with the recorder for $15 and it definitely sucks. Are you using the 6 Burning Rom or that crappy thing I got?
Nero Burning Rom 6.3.1.25 full version, but it is crap anyway.
Well then, I guess I can save the cash I'd pay to upgrade to the full Burning Rom. I just reinstalled 6 Express. What a steaming load. Oh well, at least I can burn at decent speeds with the 108 now.
Thanks for the input. |
