DVD-R DL ? when? compatiblity?
I'm still using my trusty old Pioneer DVR-103 with Recordnowmax 4. This combo has always worked great.
However, I do want a bit more speed these days. So the question is:
Since I'm looking into a new drive, I want DL support and I swear by Pioneer. But the A08 only supports DVD+R DL and I'm not sure my standalones (Apex, Pioneer, and Pioneer DVR) will play this stuff.
Does anyone have more detail as to the availability of DVD-R DL (and the drives of course)and more importatntly will it be compatible with most standalones?
There is nothing know about a release date of DVD-R DL. Maybe early next year, maybe later next year. It's not certain yet.
Anyway, using the DVD-ROM Booktype, the DVD+R DL should be very compatible with standalone players, so I'd go for the Pioneer 108.

Why wait? The +R is out and being tested in the market and tweaks to hardware, software, media are taking place fast and furious as problems are fixed and quality is improved.
If you wait until -R DL coms out, I'd bet a truckload of Big Macs that the +R technology will be more stable and more compatible than the new -R. |
