Hi,
I don't have a minDV camera yet, but I would like to start playing with non-linear editing software, mpeg2 encoders and finally dvd authoring.
I don't know it this is correct, but here it goes.
What I need is a miniDV camera and a firewire card. Then I just capture from the camera through the firewire to let's say adobe premier. Finally, I can save the captured file to any format (best is a lossless format) and then I can do whatever I want with it.
Well, does the dv file exist per se? Can I save a pure, straight from the camera .dv(?) file?
So, what I am asking is: can I find somewhere a DV Sample? Any size will do, even 1 sec.
I just want to feel the thing. (in a good way).
Thanks!!
Bira
, under the comparison section, there's a link to more MPEG2 quality tests. on that site there's a hard-core codec stressing DV clip in the form of AVI. i think XP has a DV codec built in; i'm not sure about earlier OSes
Maybe give this test file a glance
test.avi (80 MB DV)
All the encoder testings of tecoltd were done with it
enctest/enctest.htm
You maybe also need to install the Canopus DV Decoder to watch the file. Link also on the enctest site ...
If you capture raw dv you normally get .avi format with 3.6 MB/s.
Also don´t change the format after editing in premiere f.e. to any lossless thingy.
Simply stick with dv format.
Thanks for the links. That's what I wanted.

Seams that this is no longer an 80 MB DV sample...
Yep....now just 2.82MB and corrupt.
As the webpage proclaims ''We can't lay eggs but we can tell if an egg is rotten...And we might know the reason why''
So, can someone provide some working DV test samples, if possible different flavors of DV: DVCPRO25, 50 and 100?
