Win Media PLayer + ffdshow-20020617 Problem

I'm using the WMP for quite a time now. But now I have a little problem. I installed the ffdshow-20020617-Filter.
Now, if I want to watch a divxmovie the mediaplayer searches MS-Sites for a playback filter. after 5 mins, when he had not found a filter, he playbacks the movie, but in a rea crappy quality. the movie looks like in 256color mode. any1, who can help me with that problem?

have u installed DivX5?
if NOT, when look if ffdshow is configured to play DivX-Movies!

sounds like that he can't find a directshowfilter.
1. so he search for one!
2. don't find some!
3. look at the installed filters!
4. take the first who's able to play the movie!

it's just a thought.

I installed and uninstlled the filter around 20 times, now the problem has gone.

damn, so we'll never if the described failure was the prob!
