Suggestion for a new forum conversion, experience, explained, tricks

your forums are excellent but it lake a forum dedicated to the afficionados of the FlaskMpeg-Xmpeg tools.

I uses many tools. Not any is perfect.

In my opinion and experience, Xmpeg 4.5 is more suitable and easy for DVD-Divx conversion. This version is very stable if you apply some tips and tricks I explained in this forum at showthread.ph...hreadid=30907.
Sound is often better synchronized than many other tools, subtitles are very easy to insert and quality of output files is generally excellent. The difference of quality with the better other tools is tiny.

On the other hand Virtualdub+Avisynth with there derivated or including tools are more suitable for TV amp; Video capture conversion because of their less quality and the necessity to improve the quality of output files thanks to the excellent filters of Virtualdub.

Please could you add one entry dedicated to Flaskmpeg-Xmpeg tools either into your General forum or in your Divx forum as are DVD2AVI, Avisynth, Gordian-Knot and VirtualDub.

we actually had a dedicated flaskmpeg/xmpeg forum until recently. I had some special forum stats written which show me how much traffic a certain forum is getting. The forum in question had the lowest traffic of all the forums.. (okay.. besides the announcement forum but that doesn't count) by a far margin. Therefore I decided to dissolve it and moved the existing threads to the most appropriate forum.

In only 3 days, 150 visitors had read my thread quot;Tips and tricks for Xmpeg 4.5. I have also observed when one guy askes for Flaskmpeg or Xmpeg, systematically your forum suggests using Gordian-knot even if there is a response as the ones I meet in my thread. Are you not a little in favour of Gordian-Knot because this site is its official site?

In my opinion users who like the flask way but encounters some bugs because flask is presently outdated would rather be oriented toward Xmpeg. It seems obvious to me  that if the source file is of good quality the result is also of good quality with Xmpeg, and the flask-Xmpeg way is the easiest and the fastest way for Mpeg2 to Divx conversion.

that's not really a useful statistics. As I said.. the flask/xmpeg forum was getting the lowest traffic of any forum here (even the test forum got like 5 times the number of posts) and I can get stats for all kind of time periods. Bottom line is that these programs just didn't raise enough interest anymore. There's an official xmpeg support board if you really need a special board.

No. But I favor GKnot because it's better. I recall all the messages we got whenever a new xmpeg version came out.. problem here problem there. And when I was using it to write the xmpeg guides I ran into problems as well. GKnot may be a bit more complicated, but in the end you end up being the better ripper and your results will be superior (don't try to tell me that you can beat besweet when it comes to audio quality
