is there a way to backup my series DVDs directly to divx into seperate episiodes?
right now im converting them to vob with DVD Shrink compression, and then converting that with 100% quality to divx. its very time consuming. can i do it in 1 step?
Yes, you can. What you are doing there is not only time consuming but it will give pretty bad results since compressing with dvd shrink you lose a lot from quality and also make the source less compressible.
Some easy steps would be: decrypt the episodes to your hard using dvddecrypter, than encode with AutoGordianKnot with divx. Plenty of info to be found regarding these programs around the forum.
yeah the only different is i was using DVD shrink instead of DVD decryptor. And i was using the compression with DVD Shrink.
So its better if i rip with dvd decrypter (no compression) and then convert to divx with something like 75% quality?
Its still 2 steps, but i would have better quality? do you know about the difference in file size with this method?
and actually, is there a difference between using dvd shrink with no compression and dvd decrpyter?
i dont know how to make each episode as its own vob in dvd decrpyter. its really easy in dvd shrink.
I think I'm losing you here. First of all what do you mean 100% quality with divx? What settings did you use before?
Because in case you use let's say quality=90 in divx it will result probably in larger file in case you already compressed with dvdshrink since I already mentioned that the sourse becomes less compressible (that doesn't have to be necessary true, depends on what other things dvdshrink does to the source, for example if it blurrs it it will become more compressible).
On short, decrypting it and encoding is THE way to go if you want quality.
EDIT: I saw your new post. Using shrink with no compression is probably the same with using dvddecrypter.
by 100% quality, i mean since i had already compressed the files with dvdshrink, i didnt do any compression with AutoGordianKnot. i just changed it to a different format.
but nowi think i might rip the dvd with no compression, and then when i convert to divx, THAT is where i will do my compression. at 75% quality. |
