mkvmerge slowwww wen using quot;--splitquot;
hi, i have a big problem with mkvmerge. i have a xvid video, 2 aac (in mpeg4) audios, and a subtitle file. when muxing to matroska, everything ok. BUT, when i use the parameter quot;--split 789mquot; the muxing turns sooo slowww, (about 30 minutes). without this parameter took about 2 minutes. whats wrong?
ive tested with only a video/audio track and the same occours. i apreciate any help. using xp sp2 just installed
What version? Saying quot;latestquot; means nothing.
1.0.2, im using mkvtoolnix version 1.0.2.
Try this version: videotools/mkv...20050212-1.rar. That's the latest cvs head build, I use it and it works just fine. Though I never had problems using --split on any version.
Tnks KaiserS. i will try tonight.
when mkvmerge is muxing, the processor usage is 100% (with problem).
i test with others videos, , the same happens. so, should be a problem with mvkmerge...i can't imagine wy ths --split paramenter change in muxing to do this... maybe the byte-counting? i dont know...
tomorrow i back.

What are you system specs? On my system, AMD XP2000+ amp; 512 megs DDR333 RAM,I never use more then 45% cpu max, average is usually around 20%. So maybe its a problem with your system and not the program itself?
No, it sounds like a problem with mkvmerge, not with the system. Can you please try the same (including --split) but without the subtitle tracks?
KaiserS:appears to happens the same wth this new cvs. your system spec is the same as mine.
Mosu:i will try it. i will convert some videos and test in various ways to dig untils i find exact what is causing, ... but one thing i know - is only wen using --split
tnks fot the help folks, i back soon

Try leaving out one file during each muxing process. My guess is that either a subtitle or a video track is the culprit -- but I actually have no real clue what the cause might be.

Well, it seems odd that on his system his cpu would max out doing a mux when that task isn't even a cpu intensive (hence why my cpu only uses 20% average). That's why I asked. |
