Hi. I have a few questions. I did an ISO rip with DVD Decrypter. If I just burn the ISO to a DVD-R or RW with my Pioneer DVR 103 will the dvd work in most players and PS2?
Also, how do I change and ISO to DivX format?
Can the Div-X format be burned directly to a dvd and watched on a player?
Thanks
lol funny questions.
1) If you burn the .iso straight back to DVD-R it should work on standalone players and your PS2.
2) To conver a DVD .iso to DivX you would have to bust the iso open. Much easier to simply re-rip the movie with dvd decrypter, except this time choose file mode and not iso mode. And then preform your divx compression on the resulting vobs.
3) No, DivX is a variation of mpeg4, most dvd players only support mpeg2 and possibly mpeg1 for vcd support.
Thanks for the replies. As you can see I'm new to this and I have one more question. If I download a movie from the internet in .avi mode, and I convert it to fit on a dvd, will the quality be the same?
And also, what are the only files extensions that could be read on most dvd players? Thanks a lot!
Whoo... You have a lot to read, I feel.
Well, just to give you a short help;
on DVD, for video : only MPEG-1 (vcd compliant mainly) = mpg m1v and MPEG-2 ( vob m2v)
For audio, it's 48Khz only, wav-PCM, MP2, AC3 or DTS.
all divx is AVI based and is not compatible with DVD players, at this time
audio on divx is various, but often mp3.
You always loose quality a lot when transcoding from one compression system to another. Anyway, the result can be enough good for you. You wil have to try and see if it is conveniant for you.
On my side, for me, I cannot transcode a divx movie to mpeg2 and do a DVD. Too much loss, and poor sound (i like AC3).
Begin there now, and come back to the correct forum when you are more familiar with DVD , encoding stuff :
dvd-basics.htm
guides.htm
Doom9 is plenty of full well done guides, with plenty of screenshots and everything.
Thanks again. I have read most of the guides on that wonderful site. I think I understand the more complex concepts but have problems on the easier ones. Could someone sumarize the difference between VCD SVCD. How do I know which is which.
For a dvd that is 4.7 GB I can just do and ISO read and write and i have my dvd backup, right?
For a dvd that is larger than 4.7 GB or one which i want to convert or make region free, i would have to decrypt the dvd using the file option in dvd decrypter, right?Thank you.
seems you still need to read a lot...
Mainly, vcd is mpeg1 svcd is mpeg2
yes, you can rip a dvd5 and burn it directly
Yes, DVD decrypter allows file mode what is useful for any operation on the project. It support also direct demx.
But, i must consider this is where I will end to answer this thread.
YOu need to read more guides and to practice. Then post in the right forum, asking for help on issue you don't understand.
We have quite strict rules here about posting in the right forum, and the subject is clearly off topic of quot;burningquot;.
No offense, just to keep the forum at the level it is. |
