Is there a way to convert a VBR MP3 in 5.1 channel to AC3 5.1? Actually, I'm not really sure if this is 5.1 channel. Here's what it says in GSpot;
0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
122 kb/s (61/ch, stereo) VBR LAME3.98aª
48000 Hz
That can't be mp3 can't be a 5.1.
122 kb/s (61/ch, stereo) VBR LAME3.98aª
that means 61kbs per channel and stereo.
mp3 supports multichannel (yeah, real multichannel, not fake surround info), tough no encoder supports it (also not lame)

Yes i know. What heppend whit this project.
there never was a project to write a multichannel mp3 encoder if you mean that
I think that was Fraunhofer IIS started. btw Aud-X is hacked mp3 5.1 codec
both frauenhofer and the aud-x are quot;surroundquot; mp3 encoders, meaning they output stereo mp3 files which contain some extra infos for how to upmix from 2 channels to multichannel
both are not compliant to both the official mp3 surround and multichannel specs |
