N E 1 know of an encoder shootout for IPOD video game, between, market, others

Hi guys,

I was thinking, with so many IPOD and portable player mpeg4 encoder suites now on the market, isn't it about time a shootout between them was done?

With NERO and Slysoft in the game now it would be great to do an encoder/quality/speed comparisson of them and the others out there.

What do you think? Doom9?

1) imho a waste of time as you dont see the quality differences on the ipod screen anways i guess (unless the codec really sucks big time
2) comparisons between xvid, divx, nero, ffmpeg aso have been done already
3) slysoft uses ffmpeg as their page states, so i assume the use ffmpeg's own mpeg-4 asp encoder

as bond said.. the small screen makes it rather pointless.. perhaps you'll see how sucky the ati encoder is, but you most definitely will see zero difference between reasonably good codecs. Even the PSP screen is too small.. but if you keep it really close to your nose (when in bed for 5 days last month I finally got to try out the PSP.. and was able to spot artifacts in those pesky UMD discs as well).
