Do you have other suggestions, preferences or experiences trying the various fonts, sizes, settings and similar aspects on your subtitles work?

Best Regards.

IMO the best method to create nice looking subtitles, which are similar to or sometimes even better than commercial/official subtitles is this:

In SubtitleCreator use the default colour palette, and these font settings:

Font: Arial regular
Size: 20
Outline: 5 (default)

If i read that right these all talk about DVD subs, but you did not explicitly ask that (?)

-for softsubs i like Tahoma and Verdana (fully opaque, off white or some quot;pastelquot; colors) with a moderately thick black outline of about 50-75% opacity [edit] and no shadow[/edit]

-DVD subs i don't like at all, the resolution is just too small to get decent font features and the limited number of colors disqualify vobsubs for me (not that i wan't super colorful subs, but quot;interpolationquot;)

Oh, sorry!

My first intention is mainly talk about dvd subtitles.
But, we can include animes fonts and concerning about others videos/material sources too.

I wanna know what generally people use in their works, their settings, programs that can help in that task, etc.

For example: who deal with animes generally use some effects and fonts that differs from commercial dvd subtitles use.

In last instance, this thread is basically for sharing some  knowledge and experience about fonts subtiles tests and ( maybe) some advices in particular cases or kinds of sources to subtitle.

Best regards for all.

Thanks.
