The Abyss Special Edition

I'm having problems encoding The Abyss Special Edition. It'll prepare and start encoding until it gets to encoding segment 22 on VTS 04 then it says it can't find the file and then shuts off after I click ok. This is the first time I've run into this problem using DVD-RB. Even DVD Shrink has problems with this DVD after its been ripped onto the hard drive. Any suggestions? I used DVDFab Decrypter to rip onto the hard drive in case that helps.

sounds like a corrupt file, rerip it

The NTSC/R1 version of that title is one of the ones I use for testing ILVU as versions are released... I've done it many, many times and it works correctly.

What program do you use to rip the disc?

i have done the movie R2 and everything went ok. the only problem that i saw was the image corruption somehow. looking in the credits the letters where not static while they were moving but rather interlaced. i dont know if something has to do with dvdrebuilder. i will post a photo to see yourself. tha same thing i have noticed during the movie in some cases

Are you playing it back on a standalone player or a PC?  PCs have a tendency to not play back interlaced sources very well.

i had a problem once in an old verison where i outputted to iso (and it was oversized) but i didnt get an error.  Odd thing was it burnt fine with no errors also, but of course there were errors on playback b/c the files didnt fit!!

It burned with an ISO that was too big?  I've never heard of that before -- what burning software did you use?

nero.. which is why i dont use it anymore

The latest DVDFab Decrypter was used to rip it to the hard drive.

Hi!The latest DVDFab Decrypter was used to rip it to the hard drive.

DVDFab Decrypter purportedly AUTOMATICALLY replaces unreadable sectors with quot;dummyquot; sectors.

While doing so may allow you to backup a DVD that might otherwise be uncopyable, the resultant rip could also cause problems, such as the one you're experiencing.

I'd suggest you try cleaning the DVD and re-ripping it, using a ripper other than DVDFab Decrypter. If you can't get a good rip, I'd then suggest that you return the DVD to the place of purchase and exhange it for another copy...

wrong. this applies only for arcoos protection based on bad sectors. abyss does not have this kind of protection

are you so sure? i believe it also applies to read errors

@FarCry

What I stated is correct - and is considered a major negative factor about DVDFab Decrypter. You are mistaken...

(Feel free to check the many postings at other forums or, check with the publisher, quot;fengtaoquot;)

So what about using dvd decrypter instead of dvdfab?

That should work.

What version of DVD-RB are you using?

you may be correct on this but a movie in order to have read errors  must have scratses or protection based on unreadable sectors.

this movie does not have protection based on unreadable sectors 100% sure.

if it has scratses its not the movie. its his fault. understand now?

you cant blame dvdfab decrypter if the movie has scratses.

sure i understnd.  If the rip is not correct, the incorrect assigning of dummy secotrs due to scratches is the fault of either the owner of the disk (for the scratches) or the ripping program (for incorrectly dealing with them).  it has nothing to do with rebuilder

I'm using the latest DVD-RB Pro version and the disc does have scratches on it so maybe that is the problem. However at the same time I've used DVDFab on other discs that have scratches on them and it ripped perfectly whereas DVD Decrypter didn't rip the movie. Instead it got hung up on the disc so who really knows whats really going on with these rippers.

yes you can say that but tell me how the program can tell if the disk has scratches on it or protection based on unreadable sectors in order to deal differently the protection and the scratches?

you can try btw anydvd. now it has a feature called anydvd ripper tha repairs the structure of a scratched dvdOriginally Posted by xxfilthyonexxI'm using the latest DVD-RB Pro version and the disc does have scratches on it so maybe that is the problem. i think that depends on how much the dvdrrom or dvdrw is sensitive to scratches while reading. and scratches are not always the same on every dvd

try dvd43 instead of dvdfab decrypter. its also free of charge

If those commands don 't exist then you can assume that the disk is scratched or that the problem is hardware related...

AnyDVD ripper is FixVTS...

DVD43 is pretty much outdated...
