I have spent many hours on this and learned a lot in the process. It started when i found out how to extract sub menu bmp's with subrip(it's not mentioned in 's guide, maybe something to add).I have been working with the movie quot; The sum of all fearsquot; wich has nice motion menus.I start with demuxing the menu-vob in vobedit then extracting the sub bmp's,then demuxing the individual cell id's to m2v and ac3 files and importing everything in maestro. The ones i want to save are intromenu(motion),mainmenu(motion)and mainmenuexit, setupmenuexit, commentarymenuexit, sceneselectionmenuexit(all small transition motionmenus lasting a few seconds)+the corresponding stillmenus. When everything is compiled in maestro and i have set buttons and connections it works as i want in navigation simulator even though everything is in still mode,i can navigate perfectly through the menus and when i have a transition it shows part of that menu as a still and continues to the final still as i have set it up.But when i compile the result, win and power dvd locks up or freezes at various places during transitions or on still menus.I even burned an image for testing on a set top player(dvd-rw)but i get freezing there to.I get as far as intrologo to intromenu(turning on sub menu halfway in) to main menu to main menuexit to movie playing perfectly, but setup, commentary and sceneselection transitions freezes. This is so strange because mainmenuexit is the same approximate size and length as the other short transitions.I also found out that if you mess to much with connections back and forth, maestro will give up on you and the navigation will stop working whatever you do so i started all over again and got everything working in navigation simulator. When it compiles every menu IS in the main menu vob maestro makes(first the motion then still)but it does not work in soft or hardware players.Any one with experience with this?
Ok,i been trying many combinations but i can't get my maestro to work(i have build 2915a).I started a new project and used a music video for the main movie so it compiles in just a minute or so.What i found is that i can get the opening logo/trailer going to intromenu(timeout) going to looping main menu going to exit menu(timeout) going to main movie working perfectly. But if i try to connect the looped main menu to ANY other menu (still/loop or timeout setting)it will work PERFECTLY just as intended in navigation simulator in maestro BUT when compiled and tested in software or hardware dvd players they will freeze upon pressing the button for the selected menu. The only way to get something to happen is to make a connection to a renamed short transition like a menuexit that is set to timeout 0 sec. AND connected to a movie/chapter only. Then it will cycle through all menus in the project and finally go to the selected movie/chapter.If i set ANY menu after the menuexit timeout it will freeze. It happens with both types of menus, still with and without audio.I compiled about 40 projects with all possible combinations and it just does not work. This is really frustrating so if there is a maestro guru here please help!
Unfortunately - not a Maestro guru - you're just having about the same problem I'm having.
I'm doing Scorpion King. I have
Intro movie -gt; still menu -gt; intro movie2 -gt; still menu2 -gt; lt;somethinggt;
I freeze after the second intro movie. There are actually 4 buttons on the first still menu - all of which go to an intro movie, and all the second intro movies freeze (but work perfectly in the Navigation tester).
If I figure anything out, I'll post back - anybody else, feel free to jump in if you have a clue....
Thanks...
Wow,i thought this was an easy one for razor-sharp guys like Doom9,TRILIGHT,mpucoder,Arky,auenf,Eyes`Only,jdobbs,Yohudi or oddyseus to answer. To simplify:Why doesn't the compiled VIDEO_TS folder from Maestro work properly in hard or software players when using motionmenus and transitions when it works fine in navigation simulator?I guess i'll have to try Scenarist-i have been playing with the interface and read the manual for 3 days straight and have to say it looks hellish to me,it took hours to re-create one simple intro menu.

Same problems here.
Though I cannot play any motion menu or the movie itself in Maestro, the menu works perfectly. BTW I have a relamagic hollywood card and I have a error trying using it in Maestro.
So the menu is from Armageddon, built up as follows:
Mainmenu, begins with short movie then at the end have the real menu, loop is activated.
Main_Menu_outro comes when 1 out of 3 possibilities is selected.
from Outro it goes to a black nothing for aech of the 3 possibilities with 0 timeout (so 3 black menu is needed), which all are linked to their respective menu (chapter_menu, lang:menu, play direct).
Only the main menu plays in powerdvd with outro if I choose something, then black nothing, nly the direct movie link seems to work. So what the hell is going on with this **** Maestro?
I'm sat at work, having just finished my nightshift, so I certainly am NOT razor sharp this morning! I'm reading through your post, AlainDelon, and I must admit I'm too tired to make *detailed* sense of it at the moment. Just for the meantime, I will state that I have often (and I mean MANY times) had problems with WinDVD and PowerDVD when playing back DVD titles. I often find that Cinematograph is far more informative at telling me how my navigation is working (i.e. correctly or not!). It's more efficient, and hardly ever freezes.
Unfortunately, the nature of the problem you describe really requires one to attempt to physically replicate the problem, and this takes quite some time. I'll get back to you when (if!) I have time - sorry I can't be more helpful right now.Oh, just one more thing... do your assets include sequence-end-codes, and do they have closed or open GOPs? This may, or may not be relevant, but I'd appreciate an answer all the same.Arky ;o)
Arky,as the assets are from a commercially produced dvd and just split to cell id's amp; demuxed,i assume they include sequence-end-codes and as far as closed or open GOPs,i'm sorry but i don't know what this refers to.As far as software players-yes they are not the most stable kind so that is why i tried on 4 different hardware machines to with the same results.I'm really looking forward to some help on this(some others seems to have similar problems)as i feel Maestro is at a perfect level of ease of use/features.I just spent all night with Scenarist and after 3 hours authoring menus,it crashed when importing the main movie and all my work was ruined. When i started from scratch, the movie imorted fine(much faster than Maestro btw)but then i had a big trouble importing subs and there doesn't seem to be a way to save your work. The point is,it is just to complex for my taste at this time. Thanks to all for trying to help!
Hy!
My m2v is reencoded with cce 2.5 opens gops, included sequence end code, dvd complioant and so on. The film works fine!(without a menu, I burned it and tested it), the problem is the menu, which only contains m2v ac3, and bmps- from the original release, and maestro is not complaining. So I m totally stuck? DVD Maestro, when compiling tells me everything is OK (NO wanings), but powerdvd and windvd can not play the menu, sometimes I can access the movie itself, all seems working except my menu.
For all it's worth...
I use Maestro for all my back-up projects. I did still menus, animated, got them ALL to work.
I use good ol' VOBrator to demux the menu VOB's... I don't even go down to cell level... never had to (or rather don't understand cells well enough to try). I check off what I dont want and hit the demux button to get the m2v and AC3 streams I need.
In the case of animated menu BG's:
Make sure you have the loop radio button set. If the menu is an intro segment played only once and then needs to link to a folowing menu loop, make sure you set the radio button to quot;timeoutquot; and set timeout time to 0. Then make sure you assign the quot;end actionquot; of that menu to the looped menu that should follow.
In the case of still menus:
When you demux those, they are 1 frame mpeg streams. Maestro doesn't like those and the compiled title behaves funny or freezes if you set those as a quot;loopquot;. So to circumvent this problem, you must make a screenshot of the mpeg using a software DVD player (I use PowerDVD XP4) and use that BMP screenshot as the background for your menu.
Additional problem: when you try to play a single frame mpeg in PowerDVD, it plays and stops so fast you don't have time to hit the screen capture button... Solution: set the loop button so the video will play over and over. This will give you ample time to hit the screen capture button.
Then import the BMP screen cap in Maestro and set the playback attribute as quot;stillquot;. Problem solved.
PS:
If you don't like Scenarist, just dump it my way. I sure could use it.. JK
Thanks Utec I'll try out!
btw why is windvd saving the pics to 1024*576 ?(should be 720*576) for pal.

16:9 animorphic dvd's are stored as 'horizontally compressed' on the dvd. in the case of pal, they are played back at 1024x576, ntsc are played back at ~848x480.

(or still)
Well,there is the answer,simple as pie.Junior member(UTec):1 Razor-sharp Maestro gurus:0
I did suspect the still menus because i just did Band Of Brothers that has all motion menus and it works perfect but i thought if they work in Spruce-up,they should work in Maestro. So i redid all still menus in The Sum Of All Fears as bitmaps and now everything works perfectly!Thank you so much UTec!
i don't know how to use Vobedit that well so i'm asking you how do you extract:
intromenu(motion),mainmenu(motion)and mainmenuexit, setupmenuexit, commentarymenuexit, sceneselectionmenuexit to separate m2v and AC3 files????
i open the VTS_01_0.VOB in Vob edit
click the demux button and then what settings should i use??
i'm doing a movie that is pretty much like the one you did. (Figh_Club, in my case)
well it is a late replay but u know, better late than ever.
I owe an apologie to AlainDelon for not replying to his question a couple of months ago but I just missed it.
However I can help destemido and I will.
1st u load up vts_0?_0.vob that contains your menu in vobedit and hit the demux button.
2nd. U split by cell id. and collect the result of numerous vob files in a folder.
3d. U load each one in vobedit again and demux twice, 1st by mpeg stream and second by audio.
I would prefer however to use vobrator that does all 3 steps in one go.
thanks i tried Vobrator and it works just fine...
but besides the .m2v and the .ac3 files i also get a .spes
what are those kind of files or better saying what are they for???
they stand for subtitle elementary stream. Don't know if any programm can use them
subtitles as in subtitle overlay template??
if it is than it is great, when re-creating menus.
now if only there was a proggy to take advantage of that!!!
There is - use subrip on the original VOB - that's how I get all my menus. Typically one of the VTS_xxx_00 files has all of the menu stuff in it - just point SubRip at the file and ask for BMPs and away you go.
yep that way all the buttons will be aligned both horizontal and vertically.
Nive !!!!
will have to try that. |
