Help with WMV files

Hello i have a series or WMV files which i would like to join.

I have got the software to join but this only works if the files are mpegs.

So what i am looking for is a way of changing my WMV files into Mpegs, can anyone help me?

The main problem as well is that i have a Apple Mac and software seems to be limited for this.

Any help would be great thanks.

Don't bother converting to mpeg. If possible, pick up ffmpeg or mencoder and mux the wmvs into avi or mkv, either of which can be quickly and easily joined (though mkv keeps audio sync somewhat better). I don't know if mac compiles exist, you might need to make one. There may be issues with vfr unless muxed with directshow, hopefully they're normal cfr videos.

i do have ffmpeg and tried that, only reason i wanted to convert to mpeg was cos they are easy to view on the mac, with wmv files when you skip along the film it takes a few seconds to catch up, but maybe if i convert to something else it may work, will have a play with that, another reason was that i know the joining software works well with mpegs

Then consider converting to MPEG-4 (ie, xvid or 3ivx) instead? mp4 is just as easy to join and looks a lot nicer than mpeg-1 at any bitrate.

i have heard of a software for joining even wmv files but cant get the link, perhaps in some other forum. anywayz but they say it comes with lot of faults.

Give Windows Media File Editor a try it's a utility that is included with Windows Media Encoder 9.  I just used it to mux a WMV9, amp; a WMA9.1 PRO 5.1 audio file.  I also believe it can join WMV files.

Hi!The main problem as well is that i have a Apple Mac

So how did you create these .WMV files to start with?

If you ever get around that whole Mac quot;problemquot; , give AsfBin a try:
