Saving movie trailers from some sites.
, linked from IMDb. These trailers (QuickTime/WMP) download (around 15-40 MB) and play. They presumably play from the RAM.
How does one go about saving them?
Regards.
Try right-clicking on the video and selecting quot ropertiesquot; and then looking for the location of the video file, then copyamp;paste it into the address bar. This works for me using the ActiveX media player plugin from WMP9.
Thanks. There is no 'Properties' on right-clicking. Try the the link in my first post and see if there's a way.
Regards.
You can saved quicktime trailers with quicktime pro.
If you right-click somewhere other than the movie box, you can view the page source. Sometimes the ucl for the movie is in the page source directly. Sometimes it has a link to the actual link for the movie.
The movie link is this. I found it out by methods described in your post. If you click on the link, the WMPlayer will open and display the video. WMP's File gt; Save as button is greyed out. How do I save (capture?) a copy?
Sorry for missing what's probably obvious.
Regards.
wow..... I remember watching that as a kid, what a classic.
moral of the story.. NEVER TRUST WOMEN
Yeah, okay. I won't trust many women. And it is a classic.
Back to the other matter: can you save the video in your hard drive?
Regards.

lt;/scriptgt;This is now confusing....
Well,this was a really tough one ...
Note that i am not an expert or professional at web-design,streaming or networks in general ... just an average guy who sometimes does this himself and therefor has some experience ...
So here it goes:
In this case they use quot;Active Server Pagesquot; (Microsoft!) and furthermore an quot;ActiveXquot;-Browser-plugin (Microsoft!) , so thats (generaly) bad for our mission ;-)
To make a long story short : the link to the important file is
player.asp...ishedId=460125
where quot;videokbrate=100quot; means the bitrate of the trailer (possible values are 56,100,300) and quot;PublishedId=460125quot; is the number of this particular trailer of quot;Pitch Blackquot;. Inside this file are the now familiar links for the streaming-protocols (rtsp etc.) with which you proceed as usual (i.e. Nettransport) ...
If you (or somebody else) is interested in the (long) way I got to the link , i'll explain it further , but beware it was an ugly task and will be even uglier to explain ... ;-) I had to read some Page-sources, copy and paste some links and after some luck : Bingo! the right file which we needed ...
I hope this helps (again),
MTM.
.
The bad thing is, that it's a shareware.
I give up. Please explain it the ugliest way possible. I've braced myself, and my jaws hurt...
@ Winamp_Hater:
Thanks. The NetTransport MTM spoke of is also a shareware, though.
Regards.
/ plus the text between the quot;quot; : videodetective.com/play.asp?New=Trueamp;List=645790amp;PublishedId=460125amp;VideoKbrate=300amp;ListID=amp;CustomerId=97135amp;HasPlayer=
5. View the source. Therein is a ucl (quot;videoad/ads.asp?CustomerId=97135amp;List=645790amp;PublishedID=460125amp;Videokbrate=300quot;) you have to copy and paste to a browser window and then view the source of it.
6. You see 4 from-links. Copy and then download (downloadmanager?) the right one : remember the PublishedId=460125 which is the ID of the desired trailer (see my post above).
This is finally the .asx-file in which you will find the rtsp:-link you can download the familiar way ...
Puh, as I said , it was a tough one ...
I hope this little quot;HowToquot; is useful for you ...
Bye,
MTM.
FlashGet is free for use, but with ads.
I will point out the obvious and state that I think it's absurd that they try and not let you save a Movie Trailer
A Movie Trailer is promotional material which is also nice for fans to save and keep, and in the future some time play again - without having to go through the performance of finding and downloading it again
These companies making it spitefully difficult to save Trailers are doing nothing but annoy the customer.
I have my Harry Potter trailers saved because I like the books and the Movies. I've paid hundreds of dollars counting buying the books, DVDs - amp; a couple of VHS copies, plus paying for Cinema Tickets when they were there. I don't think there's anything morally wrong with wanting to have a trailer saved so I can view it sometimes ......
Net Transport by Xi is quite good. It used to be freeware/donationware. WMR version 7.0 used to be good for MMS streams
It's beautiful. Not the trailer (that's ok), I mean, the way you've done this. Thanks very much.
I agree that it's ugly: it's not worth the the time, the energy, the persistence etc needed to achieve the goal.
I agree with video_magic. If they don't want the promos to be downloaded, then we don't need to view them at all. Downloading a trailer each time I want to view it is plain nonsense. To hell with it.
And Winamp_Hater: I'm not sure if FlashGet can download rtsp or mms links. By the way, why d'you hate winamp?
Regards.

I'm sure about FlashGet - Now I use it!
And I hate winamp, because it caused me something like a system crash.
Hello,
ukb008 , thank you for your kind words ...
Why they don't want us to download the trailers ? I just say one word : Copyright .
Bye,
