Vdubmod and large files

I am backing up my star trek collection at the moment. Seein it compresses very well, I was trying to fit it on one DVD. In order to get the best quality and bitrate spend, my idea was to link all episodes together in DGindex and run that thru gordion knot as one giant video, with target size 4479mb. That worked fine although took 2 days to encode. Now I am trying to load the resultant file in vdubmod, and it appears to loop whilst parsing the mkv file. Normally is say 1 of 700,00kb or what ever - so it should read 1 of 4480,000kb for a dvd? But it doesn't.

If vdub can't do it - any suggestions what proggy can split up my file?

If your intent was to have individual files when done, you could instead have encoded them individually.

I found MKVToolNix - it split the file into 500mb chunks which vdubmod can handle. Not an elegant solution, but it works.
