help with two dvd authoring problems dvd, problems, describe, starting

Ill describe first my technique for makin my dvds, i like putting tv shows on disks with menus so i can watch umm all later and not just on me putter

Atm im placing 6 episodes onto a disc each episode is starting life as an avi file at 350mb each im sure you all know what im taking bout.

Im using dvd santa first off i punch 6 episodes into it and let it run for four hours selecting pal and changing the target size down by 100mbs to allow for a motion menu later on

then i move to dvd author 1.6 (with the ac3 plugin that doesnt seem to work lol) i use this to add a nice motion menu with a video snippet in the back ground and basic 6 ep selection on the menu foreground nice and simple didnt need to to be too fancy.

i then let that work its stuff for 30 odd min then move to nero and burn it all off on dvd

two problems im hoping you can help

1. My first is with dvd santa, i encoded all 4 seasons of farscape no problem and even a season of lost and load more but lately i have been coming accross the odd episode that will not encode dvd santa immidiatly crash when i click the encode button, re downlaoding doesnt change it, the only time i have fixed it was by downloading an episode that was encoded by someone else say for intance a lol release instead of a VTV release, if you know what im on about.

so im wondering if theres another program i can use that i can batch 6 episodes into it and it create each one at the appropriate bit rate so i can get all 6 nicely on dvd with a menu, i dont wanna be doing each 1 at a time

has anyone ever come accross when for some reason it just colapses the program and wont encode it but it will encode a different downlaod ??

2. My second is some of my downloads the stargate for instance will encode fine in dvd santa but when i try to move them into dvd author it says it cant do it becuase its been encoded in ac3 ?? is there any way of making that plugin for with regards dvd author, theres no way im striping and reencoding the sound on 9 seasons of stargate lol i luv it but not dat much lol
