Intra-frame only?

Is there any way to force intra-frame only operation in xvid?

Just for curiousity sake, I wanted to compare intraframe mpeg4 vs intraframe mpeg2 vs dv.

Intra-frame mpeg4 is a valid format according to fraunhofer whitepapers.

If it provides higher compressability than dv, it would make an excellent editing format.

Maximum I-frame interval (gop size) of 1 or 0 would be the first place I'd look.

Motion precision 0.

Thanks for the tips!  I'll post back if I come up with any interesting results.

It will. Now, for even more compressibility, look towards h264 (intra only), or towards mjpeg2000, both should outperfom dv, mpeg2 and mpeg4 and be as editable.
